This October means a little more to me. 💗
As many of you know, my mom is a breast cancer survivor. This year, she celebrated 11 years in remission, and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful.
During her treatment, we talked about how her grandmother had also had breast cancer, but back then, it was something people didn’t openly talk about. Because of our family history, I now go for breast cancer screenings every six months.
My mom also went to treatments with my older cousin, who faced breast cancer twice. The second time, it became metastatic, and we lost her in her mid-30s. I wish she were still here celebrating milestones with us.
For the entire month of October, I’m setting aside 15% of every sale at Sarah Smiles to donate to a local breast cancer fund. Every appointment and purchase will help me give back to a cause that means so much to my family.
I’m doing this in celebration of my mom, in memory of my cousin, and with love for the families in our community going through their own journeys.
