So apparently my “Tolle Totum is closing its OFFICE” post was the marketing campaign I needed all along. 😂

Because that post has gotten more views, comments, shares and interaction than almost anything I’ve posted out of my 612+ posts.

And now I’m seeing:
“I didn’t even know you were a business.”
“Wonder what type of marketing they used?”

Oh.
Okay. Let’s talk about that.
Because I have to ask…

What exactly did you think I was doing for the last 9 months? 😂
I didn’t quietly open a room downtown and hope someone accidentally wandered in.

I have posted daily.
I have shared in local groups and beyond.
And then shared some more.
I had TWO grand openings.

One when I opened in Bardstown.
Another when I moved to Elizabethtown.

I’ve been open for 9 months.

I hosted a Thermography event.
A Women’s Wellness Night.
Discounted events during local festivals.
I participated in Brittany Page Hair Salon & Spa’s grand opening event.
I passed out flyers to local businesses.
I donated gift certificates to local businesses for giveaways.
I put my sidewalk sign out almost every day for months.
I set up at events.
I reached out to business owners.
I reached out to wellness professionals.
I have reached out about collaborations.
I reached out about cross-referrals.
I tried to build relationships, and have built a few.
I ran Facebook giveaways.
I ran weekly deals.
I created promotions.

I targeted specific audiences; women, mothers, military, teachers, stressed-out, burnt-out, men, wellness-minded people and anyone looking for something different.

I followed local businesses.
I liked their pages.
I supported them.

I put my products on Etsy.
I wrote a cookbook.

I have followed up with customers.
I have asked for reviews.
I have sent promotions.
I have reminded people to book.
I have made the services affordable.

And here’s the really frustrating part. One, I can see how many views my posts are getting. I know how many people were at events, and how many flyers and business cards I have passed out.

And the people who actually walked through my door?

They loved it. 😍
I’ve heard:
“Your acupressure facial was amazing.”
“The ear seeding really helped me.”
“I love this product.”
“I feel so much better.”

I haven’t had customers beating down my door to tell me how terrible the experience was.
Quite the opposite.

The people who experienced Tolle Totum got it.

So let’s eliminate a few possibilities.

Location?
I was downtown Elizabethtown.
Prime location.

Marketing?
I marketed the hell out of it.
Could I have done more? Of course.
But I didn’t exactly sit around waiting for Facebook to magically hand me customers.

Price?
Most services were around $60.
My products average around $30.
I wasn’t trying to make wellness inaccessible.

So…
What was left?

🔔 SUPPORT. 🔔

Because here’s the truth:

I can market.
I can educate.
I can create.
I can offer discounts.
I can host events.
I can give things away.
I can show up.

But I can’t make people:

LIKE.
COMMENT.
SHARE.
REFER.
RESPOND.
RETURN.
BOOK.

And if you scroll through my 612+ posts, you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
Post after post after post.
And for the most part?
Crickets.

Even when the information was useful.
Even when the posts were engaging.
Even when I was offering discounts or giveaways.

Yet now that I’m closing my office…
Everybody sees it.

Funny how that works.
And let me be very clear:

I’m not saying everyone owed me a booking.
You don’t have to buy my services.
You don’t have to buy my products.
You don’t have to agree with everything I say.

I WAS VISIBLE.

Most just didn’t necessarily pay attention.
And maybe that’s the problem.

Tolle Totum was never going to be the typical business.
I’m not selling a quick fix.
I’m not going to tell you everything is fine while you continue doing the exact same things that are making you feel awful.
I’m not going to sugarcoat wellness.
I’m not going to slap a trendy label on something and call it revolutionary.

My services are different.
My products are different.
My approach is different.
And different/ change makes people uncomfortable.
People tend to gravitate toward what they already know.

That’s fine.
But I’m not going to water down what I believe in just so it’s easier to sell.
I believe in what I offer.
I believe in supporting the body.
I believe in nutrition.
I believe in paying attention to what we’re putting in and on our bodies.
I believe in supporting the nervous system.
I believe in asking WHY instead of constantly covering up symptoms.

I believe in treating the whole person.

And I still believe there are people who need exactly what Tolle Totum offers.
So the office may be closing.

But I’m not shutting up!!

I’m not suddenly going to stop educating.
I’m not going to stop creating.
I’m not going to stop talking about food, wellness, ingredients, the nervous system, our bodies or the things I believe we need to be paying attention to.
And I’m certainly not going to stop advocating for what I believe works.

I just didn’t get the support back.
And that’s the truth.

This is a tough post to write.

Tolle Totum’s OFFICE will be closing.

And I’m not going to dress it up or pretend I’m okay with it.

I’m not!

I put my heart, time, money, education, energy, and a whole lot of faith into creating something different here.

I believed people would want another option.
A place where you could come in, slow down, be heard, learn about your body, support your nervous system, and experience modalities that you won’t find ANYWHERE else in this area.

But the truth is…

I didn’t have enough support to keep the doors open. Support isn’t always about spending money.

It’s sharing a post.
Leaving a review.
Commenting.
Recommending me to a friend.
Sharing what I was doing with someone who might benefit from it.
Showing up.

Those things cost absolutely nothing.

And when you’re a small business trying to build something from the ground up, those things matter. A LOT.

I also noticed something else along the way.
When I started talking more openly about food, Type 1 Diabetes, and what we put into our bodies, and the things I genuinely believe can impact our health…

things shifted. My posts are the truth.
Sometimes the truth resonates with people,
and sometimes it may not.

But what I share is meant to.

Not to make you feel bad about yourself.
Not to shame your habits.
Not to tell you that you’re doing everything wrong. It’s meant to hold up a mirror and extend a hand.

To make you think. To make you question. To help you learn, and ultimately, to help you become the best version of YOU! So you actually feel good in your body and in your life.

Because that is who I am.

I am this way in person.
I am this way in my everyday life.
And I am this way in my business.
I am 100% me, all the time.

I don’t preach things I don’t practice.
I don’t offer things I don’t believe in.
I don’t recommend things I don’t use myself.

And I stand behind what I say, what I teach, and what I offer 100%.
I’m not going to change who I am or water down what I believe just to make something easier for people to hear.

What hurts the most is watching what this community does choose to rally behind while a small, locally owned wellness business is trying to bring something different to the table, and struggled to get people’s support.

That part is very upsetting.
Because I know the value of what I offer.

I know the people who came in felt the difference, and I know there are people out there who would genuinely benefit from these services.

But wanting something to succeed and actually having a community support it are two very different things.

So yes…

I’m disappointed. I’m sad. I’m angry.

I’m also incredibly grateful to the people who did support me. Whether you booked, purchased something, shared my posts, left a review, told someone about me, or simply encouraged me. You probably have no idea how much those things meant.

Tolle Totum may be closing its physical office, but I’m not walking away from the work.

I will continue offering my Tolle Totum products for anyone who wants to continue using them.

Today I went for blood work.

I walked in, signed in, and approached the front desk with my lab order. I simply asked, “Should I put this order in the box?”

The response?

“Yeah, give me a minute.”

No hello. No acknowledgment. No eye contact. Before or after that.

And maybe that sounds like a small thing… but it got me thinking.

The first person you encounter in any professional setting should make you feel welcome.

As I sat there waiting, I looked around and listened to the people checking in.

And I couldn’t help but think…

We call this “healthcare” yet most people walking through those doors aren’t there because they’re healthy. They’re there because something is wrong. Also; the people working there don’t seem to care so much most of the time. In and out as quick as possible is how the system is ran.

In “healthcare” often, the process becomes: identify the problem → treat the symptom → prescribe something → come back when something else goes wrong.

Now, before someone takes that the wrong way — I am NOT anti-medication.

I take NP Thyroid. My son needs multiple types of insulin. Some medications are absolutely necessary and life-saving.

But I also believe there is value in asking:

WHY is this happening?

What does the bigger picture look like?

Nutrition. Lifestyle. Stress. Sleep. Hormones. Digestion. Nutrient status. Environment. Symptoms. Patterns.

Not just the number on one lab report.

Speaking of labs…. While I was waiting, I could hear the women behind the counter talking about my lab order and questioning why someone would want to check some of the things I requested.

And honestly?

That’s exactly why I check them.

Because looking deeper isn’t “weird.”

It should be normal to want to understand your body.

That is the heart of Tolle Totum.
