Important information for Maryland Medicaid members.

Starting January 1, 2027, some adults ages 19–64 will need to show they're working, volunteering or taking part in other approved activities (80 hours a month) to keep Medicaid coverage. Those members will also renew every six months instead of every 12.

Not everyone is affected, and some people are exempt. Maryland Health Connection will send letters to members who are, so please open and read your mail. Get the official details at MarylandHealthConnection.gov/Checkin.

More space for care, shorter waits for patients!

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center recently celebrated the completion of a new 29-bed observation unit, set to open in December. The expansion will provide dedicated space for patients needing short-term care, helping ease emergency department wait times and improve patient flow.

We're celebrating an exciting milestone! 🎉

Today we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of our new 29-bed observation unit. The unit will offer a dedicated space for emergency department patients who need short-term hospital care.

Our team is now putting the finishing touches on the unit, which we expect to open to patients in early December.
