Fact:

Melanoma does not only develop on areas of skin that get frequent sun exposure. It can also appear beneath a fingernail or toenail.

Changes under your nails, including a new or changing dark streak or spot, should not be ignored.

Knowing your skin, including the less obvious places, is an important part of early detection. Check regularly and talk with a healthcare provider about anything new, changing, or unusual.
