Yep, even RDs drink the orange drink (or Fresh Test, LLC) 😅 Here’s what I ate beforehand, plus the everyday habits I lean on (and share with my clients!) to support blood sugar all pregnancy long, not just on test day 👇
🥑 Every meal: quality protein + fiber-rich carbs + fat. This trio slows digestion so your energy comes in steady instead of spiking + crashing.
☕ Frontload your nutrition. Eat more of your food earlier in the day, when your body needs it most. Running on coffee until 2pm sets you up for the afternoon crash + cravings.
✨ Easy morning win: a scoop of Needed collagen in my coffee = ~15g protein before I’ve even made breakfast.
🍳 Protein-rich breakfast, always. Especially for moms! It’s one of the best ways to head off those 3pm cravings (you know the ones).
This isn’t about restriction or “being good.” It’s about giving your body what it needs to feel steady, energized + nourished for you and baby 💛

Google says one thing. Instagram says another. Your mother-in-law has a third opinion. 😅
When you’re expecting, feeding advice is everywhere, and most of it doesn’t fit your real life.
This mama’s doula sent her to our breastfeeding workshop. She loved it so much she kept going, and Jennie walked with her from those very first feeds all the way to starting solids.
“She references data when answering our questions, and gives realistic advice.”
Evidence-based. Realistic. Made for your family. 🤍

It’s rare in healthcare to get care this personal. A provider who comes to your home, sees your real life, and tailors support to exactly how you feed your baby. It’s something we’re so grateful to offer, because we’ve seen what a world of difference it makes.
We offer in-home visits across San Diego, plus in-office at New Mom School in Encinitas and virtual visits.
Expecting or postpartum? Call or text our office to care set up before baby arrives & see us in home within your first week postpartum 💕

Hi friend, if we haven’t met yet, I’m Jaren, a Registered Dietitian, IBCLC, and founder of Whole Women Nutrition.
If you don’t already know part of my story: I spent years disconnected from my body, and I became a dietitian partly to understand my own eating disorder recovery. Helping other women heal became my life’s work. And when I became a mom, pregnancy and feeding asked me to trust my body all over again.

What started as just me has grown into a team of IBCLCs I trust completely. Lactation was always my passion, but I never expected it to become the heart of WWN. Now I get to do both: nourish women and support how they feed their babies, together, never separately.
Whether you’re trying to conceive, navigating gestational diabetes, learning intuitive eating, healing postpartum, figuring out latch, pumping or weaning, or entering perimenopause, you don’t have to piece it together alone. We see clients in office, in home + virtually, and most visits are covered by insurance. We’d be truly honored to be a part of your story- whatever season you are in 🫶

postpartum check in— did you get your labs rechecked in the first 3 months?
low iron, low vitamin D, and off thyroid levels can all mimic postpartum depression and anxiety. what a lot of people don’t know: these same deficiencies can also tank your milk supply. before jumping straight to “it’s just ppd,” it’s worth ruling these out first — it’s one of the first things we check with new postpartum clients.
the good news: nutrition is powerful here. targeted, personalized supplementation (not just “eat more protein”) can move these numbers, support your mood, and support your supply — all at once.
if you’re postpartum and haven’t had these rechecked, book a consult with our dually licensed RD/IBCLC providers — we’ll help you figure out what’s actually going on and build a plan around it.
