🏥 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Is a hospital rushing you or a loved one out too soon? Medicare rules, you have a legal right to a Safe Discharge. You do not have to leave until a secure plan is in place.
By law, the hospital MUST ensure:
• If needed, The right home health: You have the right to insist on a Medicare-certified home health agency that can meet your medical needs before you leave.
• A safe home setup: They must verify your home fits your current mobility needs.
• Proper training & tools: Caregivers must be trained, and equipment (like oxygen or walkers) must be ready before you get home.
🛑 What if it isn't safe?
Don't let them rush you. Find the paper they gave you called "An Important Message from Medicare" and call the phone number listed for the independent reviewer (QIO) before you leave. Filing this appeal legally freezes your discharge, keeping you safe in your hospital bed while your case is reviewed. Share this to protect your loved ones! ❤️👇

Resume IVIG. Carrier multi-antibiotic resistant bacteria. Treat infections with Oklahoma antibiotics & cream. Fosfomiacyn once weekly until stable. Then, return to ER as they escalate. At this time, two well known Interstitial Cystitis Specialists have concluded, at this time, nothing more can be done for IC. Blood work indicates severe bladder inflammation. I’ll just have to live with it. Medication testing approved for comfort care before release. Waiting on Pharmacy Transfer. So far, I’m more functional & blood pressure drops roughly 100 points (or more) with pain management. Still need to iron out little things & Hospital Case Management before going home.

Hospital visit #13 this season. I'm in S. Hospital now; bacteremia.
I was almost sent home today, but my blood culture grew bacteria. Thank God they caught it before it turned into sepsis again. Having an antibody deficiency makes me highly prone to frequent infections, so my immunologist is starting me on IVIG treatments every three weeks.
For now, I’m back on IV antibiotics. My bladder is extremely inflamed and bleeding from end-stage interstitial cystitis, leaving it wide open for infection.
The medical team is prioritizing my comfort, and getting a reprieve from the pain has finally brought my blood pressure down to normal. Because of previous bouts of starvation, they are slowly reintroducing food. On the bright side, this hospital has a great kitchen!

Hospital starved a hypoglycemic & now they’re scurrying around trying to find an auto injectable glucose pen while transport is waiting to get me home. Three tries to get sugar up- They can’t legally discharge me until they get my sugar up.

Getting released from a Local Hospital who says they can’t meet Alpha-Gal needs. My specialty’s are infuriated. Getting discharged with Hypoglycemia & hematuria. They’d rather feed me sugar water in-between three cups of yogurt for the entire week. This 9 floor Hospital has no immunology, Rhematology, pain control, or Urologist of interstitial cystitis. If it weren’t for my nurse calling, I wouldn’t have gotten the yogurt or single shot Delauded through my stay.

I’ve been exchanging Alpha-Gal information in Facebook 12 years. Doesn’t seem that long 😜.
