Today, someone told me they don’t respect me because I use AI for my tattoo shop.
And honestly, it got me thinking.
Yes, I use AI. I use it to create promotional posters, advertisements, social media posts, and announcements for my business. Whether it’s letting people know the shop will be closed for a weekend, celebrating a Simply The Best win, or advertising an upcoming flash sale.
But here’s what I want to make very clear: I do NOT use AI to create my tattoo artwork. My art is my art. My creativity, my experience, and my skills are what go into the tattoos I create.
I use AI as a business tool, nothing more.
As a small business owner, I wear a lot of hats. I’m the artist, the owner, the person handling advertising, promotions, scheduling, and everything else that comes with keeping a business running.
If there’s a tool that helps me save time, cut costs, and focus more of my energy on my clients and my artwork, why wouldn’t I use it?
Using AI to make a poster doesn’t make me any less of an artist. It doesn’t take away from the years I’ve spent developing my skills or the work I put into every tattoo.
Technology changes. Businesses evolve. And sometimes being a successful business owner means learning to use the tools available to you.
You don’t have to agree with how I run my business, but using AI for advertising shouldn’t erase the respect I’ve earned as an artist.
So I’m genuinely curious…
Am I wrong for using AI to help promote my business, even though the actual tattoo artwork is still 100% my own?
I’d really like to hear everyone’s thoughts. Please comment!
