Let's talk piercings!
Nostril!
Here is a quick run down of the healing timeline and aftercare >
A nostril piercing takes 4 to 6 months to heal on the surface and 6 to 12 months fro the internal cartilage tissue to mature.
*Weeks 1-2, Initial Phase : Swelling, redness, tenderness, and minor bleeding or clear-to-yellowish crusting are normal as your body reacts to the fresh wound.
*Weeks 3-12, Early Healing Phase : The piercing channel (fistula) begins to form. Surface soreness fades, though the tissue remains delicate and easily irritated.
*Months 3-12, Maturation Phase : Internal tissue strengthens and stabilizes. Many piercers recommend a downsize (swapping initial long post for a shorter one) around 1 to 3 months, but you should wait at least 6 months to swap to a hoop.
Aftercare and Tips:
*Cleaning : Clean Gently - Rinse 1-2 times daily using sterile saline wound wash. Avoid harsh or heavily scented soaps, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or tea tree oil.
*Leave It Alone : Do not twist, turn, or play with the jewelry, as friction tears healing tissue.
*Swimming : Avoid swimming. stay out of pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the ocean until the piercing heals.
