Too exhausted to work out, but still trying to lose weight?

If you're struggling with chronic fatigue, poor sleep, and low energy, another supplement or harder workout might not be your first step.

Before changing everything, start by looking at these 4 things:

āœ… Fuel: Are you eating enough and getting consistent protein?

āœ… Exercise: Does your activity match your current energy and recovery?

āœ… Recharge: How well are you actually sleeping?

āœ… Mindset: Can you realistically maintain your routine?

These patterns matter, but persistent fatigue also deserves medical evaluation.

You can't make informed adjustments without understanding your starting point.

That's why I created the free Plateau Diagnosis to help you identify which lifestyle foundations may need attention first.

šŸ‘‡ Comment DIAGNOSIS and I'll send it to you.

Three years of watching someone you love live with pain changes the way you look at life. ā¤ļø

Before all of this, Sami and I were hiking, biking, training, and planning our next adventure.

Then life changed.

And I've learned something through this experience.

Progress doesn't always look the way we imagined it would.

Sometimes it's a successful surgery.

Sometimes it's getting out of bed.

Sometimes it's a few steps down the hallway.

And sometimes it's accepting help when you've spent your whole life being independent.

As her husband, I'm learning that my job isn't to rush her back to who she was.

It's to be present while she discovers what she's capable of next.

The surgery went well, and we're incredibly grateful. šŸ™šŸ½

We still have dreams. Places we want to explore. Memories we haven't made yet.

But right now, we're taking this one day at a time.

Because the little victories deserve just as much celebration as the big ones.

For anyone who's supported a loved one through recovery, what's one small victory you'll never forget? ā¤ļø

Imagine being afraid to eat because you don't trust what happens next.

This is something I've encountered working with women navigating weight loss, digestive issues, and midlife health.

And sometimes, weight loss isn't where we need to start.

Think about it.

When eating means worrying about the nearest bathroom, food can become a source of stress instead of nourishment.

And here's something worth understanding.

Your brain and gut are constantly communicating. Chronic stress can affect how sensitive your gut feels and how quickly food moves through your digestive system.

Long-standing diabetes can also affect the nerves that help control digestion.

But frequent bowel movements don't automatically mean blood sugar is the cause, and IBS doesn't necessarily mean your intestinal lining is damaged.

So what would the next 90 days look like?

Not another extreme diet.

I'd focus on four things:

1ļøāƒ£ FUEL: Track meals, bowel symptoms, and tolerable foods. Build consistent nutrition with enough calories, protein, and fiber that the person can comfortably tolerate.

2ļøāƒ£ EXERCISE: Gradually establish daily movement that supports health without adding unnecessary stress.

3ļøāƒ£ RECHARGE: Improve sleep, hydration, and stress management while working with healthcare providers to investigate persistent digestive symptoms.

4ļøāƒ£ MINDSET: Rebuild confidence around eating, reduce unnecessary food restrictions, and celebrate progress beyond the scale.

We'd monitor bowel patterns, energy, food tolerance, and consistency before deciding what needs adjusting.

The goal?

More predictable days. Better nourishment. More confidence around food.

And eventually, a sustainable path toward weight management.

This is why I investigate before I prescribe another plan.

If you've been trying to lose weight but feel like something deeper keeps getting in the way, comment DIAGNOSIS and I'll send you my Plateau Diagnosis.

Let's start connecting the dots. šŸ–¤

They have no idea they are fighting the same war.

One may have been told her whole life that being small is a blessing so why does she feel invisible.

The other may have had to carry the weight of a world that made her feel like she did not belong before she even walked through the door.

Both of them showed up anyway.
Both of them loaded the iron.
And for a few sets on a random day they were just two women doing Bulgarian split squats next to each other. Equal. Unbothered. Unstoppable.

This is what the gym actually is when we let it be.

Not a place where the fit people go to stay fit. A place where people who are tired of feeling like they are losing finally get to feel like they are winning.

Every single person in that building is fighting something you cannot see. And they chose to fight it here.

That deserves nothing but respect. šŸ–¤

You can have ā€œnormalā€ blood work and still walk away without an answer to the question that brought you there.

That doesn’t mean something was missed.

It also doesn’t mean you need 20 more tests.

Sometimes you simply need to understand what was tested, why it was tested, and what question you’re still trying to answer.

That’s the difference between collecting lab results and learning how to advocate for yourself.

If you’re tired of Googling every marker and wondering what actually deserves a conversation with your provider, DM me LABS and I’ll send you my Metabolic Lab Field Guide.

ā€œI’m being consistent.ā€

I hear some version of that all the time.

And I don’t immediately assume the person is wrong.

Because from inside your own routine, it can genuinely FEEL like you’re doing everything you’re supposed to be doing.

That’s why I’d rather look at the evidence than argue about effort.

With this client, PCOS was part of her story.

So were three kids, a busy life, and all the normal things that make consistency harder than it sounds on Instagram.

We started looking at what was actually happening across real weeks.

Not perfect weeks.

Real ones.

Protein she could repeat.

Short strength sessions.

Walking that fit her life.

And enough tracking to recognize the gaps without turning her entire life into a spreadsheet.

Over roughly three months:

26 pounds down.

6 inches off her waist.

Not because we ā€œfixedā€ her PCOS.

Not because she became perfect.

And not because she suddenly started trying harder.

She finally had enough consistent feedback to see what needed her attention and what didn’t.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I believe coaching should be more than handing someone calories and workouts.

Sometimes you’re too close to your own routine to see the pattern.

If you’ve been saying, ā€œI swear I’m doing the work, but something isn’t adding up,ā€ comment DIAGNOSIS and I’ll send you my Plateau Diagnosis.

There’s a point where learning MORE about your body can actually make you feel MORE confused.

One coach says it’s insulin.

Another says cortisol.

Another says estrogen.

Calories.

Fasting.

Carbs.

And I’ll admit something…

I can contribute to that noise too.

One day I’m talking about sleep. The next it’s protein, menopause, strength training, blood work or insulin resistance.

Because I’m speaking to thousands of women experiencing different problems.

But you’re not thousands of women.

You’re ONE woman.

With your own history.

Your own symptoms.

Your own lifestyle.

And your own capacity for what you can realistically change right now.

That’s where information stops being enough.

You can understand exactly WHY something may be happening…

but what are you actually going to do about it?

What can you repeat when work gets crazy?

What happens after a terrible night of sleep?

What are you measuring to know whether it’s working?

And if it isn’t working, what should actually change?

That’s the part of coaching I love.

Not giving you another theory.

Helping you figure out which lever deserves your attention right now and staying with you long enough to see what your body says back.

Knowledge matters.

But applied knowledge is where things start changing.

Sometimes the missing piece isn’t another Reel to save.

It’s having somebody in your corner who understands the whole picture.

If you’re tired of collecting information and you’re ready to figure out what actually applies to YOU, DM me COACHING.

Let’s have a conversation.

One thing marriage has taught me: paying attention is different from trying to fix somebody.

I’ve been with my wife long enough to notice patterns I didn’t understand when we were younger.

There are weeks when her appetite changes. Her energy can feel different. She may be more sensitive or need something different from me.

My younger response might’ve been:

ā€œWhat’s wrong?ā€

Coach Fermen could easily turn it into:

ā€œHere’s what you need to doā€¦ā€

Neither is always what she needs.

Sometimes Husband Fermen needs to shut up, listen, tell his wife she’s beautiful, and go make whatever food she’s been thinking about for the last two hours. šŸ˜‚

That’s actually why I’ve become so interested in women’s health.

The physiology matters.

But the woman living inside that physiology matters more.

You can know everything about estrogen, progesterone, sleep, cravings and the menstrual cycle…

and still completely miss the person standing in front of you.

Information should make us more understanding, not more judgmental.

That applies in coaching.

And it definitely applies in marriage.

Nobody prepared her for what happens next.

Endometriosis lesions produce their own estrogen locally.

Excess body fat can also contribute to estrogen production through aromatization.

And none of this had been explained to her.

The metabolic work we are doing now is not treating her endometriosis.

It is building a stronger metabolic foundation while she works with her healthcare team through what comes next.

The pharmaceutical intervention addressed one part of the picture.

Her nutrition, strength, sleep, activity, and overall metabolic health are another part we can actually work on.
