The newest providers in Fairlawn, Nova Clinical Services offers psychotherapy and MAT/addiction appointments!

A big thank you to Ascend Health Center for having us out for some casual collaboration and conversation!

We truly believe that in healthcare, it’s never a competition.

There are more than enough people who need help, and there are countless ways we can work together to make sure those needs are met.

Today was a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, talk through treatment options, and explore how we can better support patients while keeping patient autonomy at the center of it all.

Our job isn’t to decide what someone’s treatment should look like. It’s to educate, offer options, listen, and help patients make informed decisions about what works best for them.

When providers collaborate instead of compete, patients win. ❤️

Never a competition. Always collaboration.

Guidance. Healing. Hope.

Think about the last rough week you had mentally.

The inbox felt twice as long. A simple meeting felt like a marathon. You reread the same paragraph three times and still couldn't say what it said.

That's not a character flaw. Depression and anxiety affect focus, memory, energy, and decision-making, which are the exact tools most jobs run on. It makes sense that work gets harder when your mind is carrying extra weight.

The good news works the other way, too. When people start feeling better, work is often one of the first places they notice it: meetings feel manageable again, the to-do list stops feeling like a wall, and Sunday nights get quieter.

If work has felt heavier than it should lately, it might not be the job. It might be worth checking in on you.

What's one thing that helps you reset after a hard workday?

Instead of body dysmorphic and eating disorder discussions, this time they discuss pain management advances and ask if "one and done" interventions are possible for cosmetic work or mental health.

OCD is often misunderstood, and many of the common stereotypes don't reflect what people with the condition actually experience.

This OCD Awareness Month, we're clearing up 4 common misconceptions:

1. OCD isn't just about being neat or organized. It involves intrusive thoughts and compulsions that can be difficult to manage.
2. OCD isn't always about germs. It can involve fears related to safety, relationships, health, and many other areas of life.
3. Compulsions aren't simply a choice. They're often driven by anxiety or distress, even when someone knows the behavior isn't helping.
4. OCD is treatable. Approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy can help people manage symptoms and find relief.

Understanding what OCD actually looks like is an important part of reducing stigma and helping people feel more comfortable seeking support.

When someone opens up about their mental health, it can be hard to know what to say. You want to help, but sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply make them feel comfortable enough to keep talking.

If someone in your life tells you they're struggling, here are a few things to keep in mind.

What can help:
1. Thank them for trusting you enough to share.
2. Ask what would feel helpful instead of assuming what they need.
3. Give them time to talk at their own pace.
4. Listen without judgment, even if you don't fully understand what they're experiencing.

What to avoid:
1. Rushing to solve the problem or offer advice.
2. Minimizing their feelings with phrases like "at least it's not worse."
3. Comparing their experience to something someone else has gone through.
4. Feeling like you need to fill every silence.

Opening up about mental health can take a lot of courage, and the way we respond can make a difference in whether someone feels comfortable reaching out again.

You don't need to have the perfect response or all the answers. Sometimes, just being someone they can talk to is enough to help them feel less alone.

When most people picture ADHD, they picture a kid who can’t sit still in class. For many adults, it can look very different.

The email you’ve meant to answer for nine days. Losing track of time so completely that lunch becomes 3 PM. Four projects started, but none of them finished. Feeling overwhelmed by tasks other people seem to breeze through.

ADHD in adults can be mistaken for anxiety, depression, or disorganization, and it can overlap with all three. Getting a clearer understanding of what’s going on can be a relief in itself, because it changes the question from “Why can’t I just do this?” to “What would help my brain do this?”

This ADHD Awareness Month, we want to make more room for that understanding. If these patterns feel familiar, it may be worth talking with a mental health professional and exploring whether there’s more behind them than stress or lack of motivation.

Getting help with your mental health doesn’t always have to start with a prescription.

The right place to begin looks different for everyone, so we take the time to understand the whole person before building a treatment plan.

For some people, care begins with the foundations. Sleep, movement, nutrition, and connection can all influence how you feel, and understanding where those areas may need support can be an important place to start.

For others, therapy may be the right place to start. Therapy can help you better understand what you’re experiencing and develop tools to support you outside the therapy room.

Medication can also be an important part of treatment. At Ascend, our goal is to find what helps at the lowest effective dose, while continuing to monitor whether it’s still serving you over time.

And when traditional treatments haven’t brought enough relief, there may be other options to explore. Advanced treatments like SPRAVATO®, ketamine therapy, and TMS can offer a different approach for people who are still searching for the right path forward.

No single option makes sense for everyone. Effective and personalized care starts with understanding where you are, what you’ve already tried, and what you actually need.

World Mental Health Day gives us a reason to talk about something that is part of everyday life, even when we don’t always see it.

The people around us are carrying things we may know nothing about. Someone who seems fine at work may be struggling to get through the day. Someone who is always there for everyone else may be having a hard time themselves.

We hope days like today make those conversations a little easier. Check in with the people in your life, make room for an honest answer, and remember that none of us should have to pretend we’re doing better than we are.
