Something you should probably know about me is that I'm a chaos witch.

Which basically means that if you ask me how you're *supposed* to do something in witchcraft, there's a good chance I'm going to tell you that you don't HAVE to do it any particular way.

And I know that might sound a little funny coming from someone who has spent years studying different practices, herbs, correspondences, divination, spellwork, and all the things that go into the craft.

But that's actually WHY I feel the way I do.

I love knowing the history behind things. I love understanding why certain herbs are used in particular workings, what different candle colors represent, and how different traditions approach magic. I think there's so much value in learning those things.

But I also think there's a point where you have to stop looking outside yourself for someone to tell you whether you're doing it right.

I use runes and sigils A LOT in my personal practice. I work with herbs, candles, oils, and whatever else I feel drawn to in the moment. Sometimes my workings are really thought out and intentional, and other times I'm figuring things out as I go.

And you know what? I love that about my craft.

It's mine.

I don't need every working to look like something I found in a book, and I don't believe yours needs to either.

Learn the foundations. Ask questions. Get curious about why things are done the way they are.

And then give yourself some room to figure out what works for YOU.

I've been working on something behind the scenes that will give me the opportunity to share a whole lot more of this part of my world with you, and I am SO excited about it.

More on that soon.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for women who have built lives where they know they can depend on themselves. There is something really beautiful about that kind of capability, and I certainly wouldn't want to take it away from anyone.

But I also feel like there's a conversation worth having about the difference between being independent because you genuinely enjoy it and being independent because you've learned that depending on other people comes with a cost.

Because sometimes the woman everyone admires for having her s**t together is also the woman who has a really hard time letting anyone take care of her.

And I don't necessarily mean she doesn't want to be taken care of. Sometimes she wants that more than she knows how to express, but the experience of receiving support feels unfamiliar enough that she instinctively takes everything back into her own hands.

From an attachment perspective, that makes sense. Our expectations about relationships are shaped through experience, and if relying on someone has repeatedly left us disappointed, we may develop ways of protecting ourselves that involve needing as little as possible from other people.

But those strategies can continue long after our circumstances have changed.

Maybe you've noticed that in yourself. You can be exhausted and still insist you're fine, or feel genuinely grateful that someone offered to help while simultaneously trying to figure out how to avoid accepting it.

I don't feel like the answer is becoming less independent. I feel like it's becoming curious about whether independence is something you're choosing or something you've come to believe you cannot survive without.

Because being capable of taking care of yourself is a beautiful thing.

And so is being able to let someone love you well.

I feel like I should probably start including some of these disclaimers in my retreat welcome packets.

In all seriousness, one of my favorite things about hosting retreats is watching women arrive not quite knowing what to expect and leave having experienced things they never would've imagined a few days earlier.

We do some really beautiful, meaningful work together, but I also firmly believe there should be a healthy amount of laughter and ridiculousness involved.
Life is serious enough, ladies. We can do the deep work and still have a really fu***ng good time.

North Shore 2027 is in the works, and I cannot wait to do it all over again.

β€œThis was the final note to her song, and I feel seen and held.”

One of the women who joined me on the North Shore has been working with me for several years through hypnosis, Reiki, breathwork and shamanic journeys. She's experienced different pieces of my work over the years, but this was her first opportunity to experience them woven together over four days.

And while her words about me touched my heart, what I loved most was what she shared about HER experience.

She came home feeling settled. She felt she'd received what she needed, and she's continuing to honor the work we did and the time she gave herself.

I want you to really consider that for a moment, because I feel like so many of us have become accustomed to believing that an experience needs to produce some enormous breakthrough to be worthwhile.

But sometimes what we need most is an opportunity to get quiet enough to hear ourselves again.

She talked about the shoreline, the sauna, the giant fireplace, the food and the women she connected with. And I love that those details mattered to her because they're every bit as intentional as the experiences I facilitate.

I don't believe we need to spend every waking moment digging into our wounds to experience meaningful change. There's tremendous value in allowing our nervous systems to settle, experiencing genuine connection and remembering what it feels like to enjoy our own lives.

And perhaps that's something you need to hear, too.

You don't have to wait until you're completely overwhelmed or your life is falling apart to give yourself permission to step away for a few days. Your well-being is worthy of your attention long before you reach that point.

I'm incredibly grateful that she trusted me with another chapter of her life, and even more grateful that she returned home feeling she had received exactly what she came for.

And considering she gave the experience a 100/10, I feel like we did alright.

**North Shore 2027 details are dropping NEXT WEEK, exclusively to my email list!** If you've been feeling called to join us, make sure you're subscribed because my email community will be the first to receive all the details.

I've always been an observer. It's part of who I am, and a significant part of the work I do with clients. But one thing I've learned through years of studying human behavior is that what we notice and what we think it means are often two very different things.

And that got me thinking about how much of our lives we experience through the lens of what we already believe we know, and what we might be missing along the way.

This week's Whispers of the Deep is The Lost Art of Paying Attention, a little exploration of human behavior, curiosity, and the art of actually experiencing the life we're living.

Grab a cup of coffee and come muse with me.

I've been sitting with a message I received from the husband of one of my retreat attendees for over a week now, and his words still bring me to tears. He is near and dear to my heart, but that doesn't make his words any less impactful.

He reached out after our North Shore retreat to share what he'd noticed in his wife since she'd returned home. The happiness he was seeing in her, the impact her experience was having on their relationship, and how much it meant to him to see someone he loves so genuinely happy.

And then he thanked me for existing.

I'll be damned if that didn't completely undo me.

I've spent years studying psychology, the subconscious mind and the ways our experiences shape how we move through the world. I pour so much of myself into this work, but sometimes I forget just how far its impact can reach.

Because when a woman comes to work with me, she's the person I'm focused on. But she doesn't exist in isolation, and neither does the work she does.

When we begin understanding our patterns, communicating our needs and developing a healthier relationship with ourselves, those changes can ripple into our marriages, partnerships, friendships and the relationships we have with our children.

Sometimes that looks like healthier communication or greater emotional regulation. And sometimes it's simply coming home happier, more connected and remembering how good it feels to be yourself.

What touched me most about his message was that he wasn't celebrating his wife becoming someone different. He was celebrating her happiness and what that meant for their relationship.

And in doing so, he gave me a glimpse of something I don't always get to witness firsthand.

I believe deeply in the work I do, and I understand the responsibility that comes with being trusted to hold these experiences. But hearing how that work was touching the life of someone who wasn't even in the room reminded me why I continue to devote so much of myself to it.

And being thanked simply for existing?

I don't know that I'll ever have the words for what that meant to me. πŸ’š

I've spent a lot of time working with women who can tell me exactly why they struggle with boundaries, why they feel responsible for everyone else's emotions, and why disappointing someone can feel so incredibly uncomfortable.

And yet, understanding where those patterns came from doesn't necessarily make them disappear.

Because for many of us, these ways of relating to other people developed long before we had the awareness to question them. We learned what helped us feel accepted, and somewhere along the way those behaviors became so familiar that we carried them into adulthood without realizing how much of ourselves we were negotiating away.

Maybe you recognize that in yourself.

Maybe you're perfectly capable of saying no, but the guilt that follows makes you wish you'd just said yes. Or maybe you've become so accustomed to considering everyone else's needs that you're genuinely unsure what you would choose if nobody had an opinion about it.

That's the Good Girl I want to explore.

And I don't feel like we need to shame her or pretend she served no purpose. I want to understand why she developed, what she's been trying to accomplish, and whether the woman you are today still needs to live by all those same rules.

On October 18, I'm hosting **The Good Girl Funeral**, an intimate online day retreat where we'll spend the day exploring these patterns through psychology, somatic work, hypnosis and ritual.

We're making room for a different relationship with ourselves, one where kindness can exist alongside boundaries and consideration for others doesn't require abandoning ourselves.

Six chairs. One day. A whole lot to get curious about. πŸ’š
