Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today — and tonight we’re having a conversation that goes beyond the breast.

Dr. Erin King-Mullins will be joined by Dr. April Spencer, Breast Cancer Surgical Oncologist and co-host of UrbanMD TV, for a special edition of The Love Below.

Their question for the evening:
What is the connection between breast cancer and colorectal cancer?

They’ll discuss cancer genetics, family history, early detection, survivorship and why understanding your complete family cancer history can help you have more informed conversations about your health.

What does your family’s cancer history tell you about your own health?

This Thursday, Dr. Erin King-Mullins welcomes Dr. April Spencer, Breast Cancer Surgical Oncologist, to The Love Below for a conversation connecting women’s health and colorectal health in a way families may not always think about.

Together, they’ll discuss cancer genetics, family history, early detection, survivorship and more — including why understanding the bigger picture of your health can be so important.

What can breast cancer and colorectal cancer tell us about the bigger picture of a patient’s health?

On the next Love Below, Dr. Erin King-Mullins welcomes breast cancer surgeon Dr. April Spencer for a conversation about the areas where breast and colorectal cancer care can intersect.

Dr. Spencer is a breast cancer specialist, author, advocate and co-host of UrbanMD TV. Her breast surgical oncology training included a Susan G. Komen-sponsored fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Together, they’ll discuss family history, hereditary cancer risk, screening, survivorship and why a cancer diagnosis in one part of the body may prompt important questions about risk elsewhere.

Knowing your family history and discussing it with your healthcare team can be an important part of determining whether additional risk assessment or screening is appropriate.
