Pantry purge: the 5 things I toss first (and what I keep instead) 🫙

1. Drinks with added sugar → sparkling water + fresh lime, or iced herbal tea
2. Cereal with sugar in the first 3 ingredients → plain oats with fruit, nuts and seeds
3. Ultra-processed snacks → nuts, seeds, roasted chickpeas, fruit
4. Old, scratched plastic containers → glass jars and containers
5. Stale or rancid oils → extra virgin olive oil, stored away from heat and light

Tip: ingredients are listed by weight, so whatever comes first is what you're mostly eating.

STOP eating turmeric alone 🧡

Curcumin, the compound researchers study in turmeric, is poorly absorbed on its own. Research suggests:
➕ black pepper (piperine) can boost absorption significantly
➕ a little healthy fat (olive oil, coconut milk) helps too

That's my golden trio for soups, lentils, eggs and rice.

⚠️ On blood thinners, or have gallbladder issues? Talk to your doctor before taking turmeric supplements. Food amounts are a different story.

📌 Save this for your next golden soup.

Your cutting board may be ending up in your food 🪵

3 easy plastic-free kitchen swaps:
1️⃣ Scratched plastic cutting board → wood
2️⃣ Plastic food containers → glass (especially for reheating)
3️⃣ Plastic kettle → stainless steel. A 2025 University of Queensland study found new plastic kettles shed micro- and nanoplastics.

No panic and no need to throw everything out today. Swap things as they wear out. This is the heart of my book Healthy Kitchen Makeover.

Eat this, not that: gut edition 🥣 Save this for your next grocery run.

5 simple swaps, no extreme diets:
✔️ Sugary flavored yogurt → plain yogurt or kefir + fresh fruit
✔️ White bread every morning → oats or whole-grain sourdough
✔️ Chips from a bag → roasted chickpeas or a handful of nuts
✔️ Shelf-stable pickles → raw sauerkraut or kimchi from the fridge
✔️ The same 3 veggies all week → a new plant every day

Small swaps add up. Your gut microbes love fiber and variety.

3 foods your gut loves, and none of them are fancy 🫘🥣🥬

1️⃣ Beans: fiber that your gut bacteria feed on, plus plant protein
2️⃣ Oats: beta-glucan, a gentle prebiotic fiber
3️⃣ Fermented vegetables: raw, unpasteurized sauerkraut or kimchi for live cultures

Research suggests a fiber-rich, plant-diverse diet supports a healthy gut microbiome, which is linked to digestion, energy and even mood (the gut-brain connection I write about in my book Healing From Within).

Your smoothie isn’t sunscreen.

Have you seen food or supplements marketed as “beauty from within”? Whole Foods Market calls the emerging category Beautrition in its 2027 forecast, which Real Simple covered on October 17.

It’s a timely reminder to separate an appealing food trend from a sun-protection claim. Food and sun protection do different jobs. A drink, meal, or supplement marketed for skin benefits is not a replacement for sunscreen and other protective measures.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30+ sunscreen, together with shade and protective clothing. Follow the product’s directions, and speak with a dermatologist if you need help finding an approach that suits your skin.

My whole-health perspective leaves room for good habits to work together. You don’t have to turn nutrition into a miracle promise—or choose between enjoying nourishing food and protecting your skin.

Which wellness claim would you like me to unpack next?

Worldly wisdom. Whole health.

General education, not personal medical advice.

💡 Did you know your taste buds aren’t fixed?

One of the biggest myths in nutrition is that people are simply “picky eaters.”
In reality, our taste preferences are incredibly adaptable.

Research suggests that:
🧒 Children may need 10-15, or even more exposures to a new food before willingly accepting it.
🥗 Foods we encounter repeatedly become familiar, and familiarity can increase acceptance.
😋 Positive experiences around food may be just as important as the food itself.

I have a friend who refused to eat green beans for more than 30 years because of a childhood cafeteria incident. Her teacher told her she couldn’t leave the table until every bean was gone, so she quietly stuffed them into the pockets of her winter coat. She forgot about them until several days later, when the family dog began following her coat around the house like it was a mobile buffet. To this day, she says green beans smell like “fear, wet wool, and third-grade betrayal.”

Another friend believed he hated tomatoes because his grandmother served them warm, peeled, and floating in a mysterious bowl of liquid every Sunday. He called them “wet eyeballs” and once launched one across the dining room with a spoon straight into his grandfather’s face. Years later, he tried a fresh garden tomato with basil and discovered he didn’t hate tomatoes at all. He hated whatever crime had been committed against them in that bowl.

Food memories are powerful.
Sometimes we don’t hate a food.
We hate the way someone cooked it in 1987.
We don’t just eat with our mouths.
We eat with our memories, emotions, culture, and experiences.
That means every healthy meal, every fun cooking activity, every colorful plate, and every positive conversation about nutrition can help shape future eating habits.

Instead of asking:
🥦 “How do I get my child to eat broccoli?”
Ask:
🥦 “How do I make broccoli part of a positive memory?”

Healthy eating isn’t about perfection.
It’s about creating thousands of small moments that teach our brains to enjoy nourishing foods.
One bite.
One smile.
One memory at a time.

🥦 What healthy food couldn’t you stand as a child, but love today?
For me, it’s Brussels sprouts.

You've been eating spinach wrong your whole life.

Spinach is packed with Vitamin E - one of the most powerful antioxidants your body needs to fight aging, protect your cells, and keep your skin glowing.

But Vitamin E is fat-soluble.

No fat on the plate = your body absorbs basically zero of it. You're eating the spinach. The nutrients are just waving goodbye.

This is why people do everything "right" and still feel off.

Here's what Vitamin E actually does inside your body:

🛡️ Shields your cells from oxidative stress - the invisible damage that ages you from the inside out, every single day

✨ Repairs your skin barrier and keeps it hydrated (better than most creams, honestly)

❤️ Supports your heart and keeps your immune system sharp

🔥 Quietly fights chronic inflammation before it becomes a real problem

And the signs you're running low are easy to miss:

You catch everything going around. Your skin stays dry no matter what you put on it. Your eyes feel strained by noon. You're tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix.

Not random. Your body is talking.

The best food sources are also the most satisfying ones - avocado, almonds, olive oil, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, broccoli, spinach, red bell peppers.

The move? Always eat them with a healthy fat so your body can actually USE what you're giving it.

Dry salad = wasted effort. Olive oil drizzle = actually nourishing yourself.

One tiny shift. Completely different results.

Yes. I'm still here. And yes, I'm still changing lives - all over the world. 🌍

Let me be direct with you for a moment.

You are not like anyone else on this planet.

Your DNA is unique. Your biochemistry is unique. The way stress hijacks your body, steals your energy, disrupts your sleep, and silently dismantles your health - that's unique to YOU.

And that's exactly why generic diets fail you.
Why one-size-fits-all wellness programs leave you frustrated.
Why you've tried so many things… and still don't feel the way you know you should.

It's not your fault. You've just never had someone who understands biochemical individuality - the science that says your body has its own language, and it's been trying to talk to you for years.

I speak that language fluently. 💬

For decades, I've worked with celebrities, high-level executives, and private clients across the globe to do one thing:

Help them become someone who simply doesn't get sick, doesn't run on empty, and doesn't need to white-knuckle their way through the day.

And I'm still seeing clients. Privately. Globally. Virtually and in person.

Whether it's chronic stress eating your body alive, a metabolism that feels broken, gut health that's been ignored too long, or simply the feeling that you're aging faster than you should - I want you to know:

There is a version of you that wakes up every morning with energy, clarity, and a body that feels like HOME.

That version isn't far away.

It starts with understanding YOU - your unique biology, your stress response, your nutritional needs - and building a lifestyle so aligned with your body that health becomes effortless.

"The greatest medicine of all is to teach people how not to need it." - That's not just my motto. It's my mission.

Most people think Vitamin C is just for when you’re sick…
That’s the problem.

Vitamin C isn’t a “reaction” nutrient.
It’s a daily performance essential your body can’t make or store.
Which means if you’re not getting it consistently…
you’re already behind.

Here’s what it actually does:
✨ Supports a strong immune system
✨ Builds collagen (skin, joints, recovery)
✨ Fights oxidative stress (aging + damage)
✨ Boosts iron absorption (energy levels)

Low Vitamin C can look like:
• Getting sick often
• Low energy / fatigue
• Dry skin
• Slow healing

Sound familiar?
The good news → this is one of the easiest fixes.

Add these daily:
🍊 Citrus (oranges, lemon water)
🍓 Berries + kiwi
🫑 Red bell peppers (secret powerhouse)
🥦 Broccoli + leafy greens

Pro tip: It’s water-soluble → your body doesn’t store it.
Consistency > quantity.
Eat real.
Feel strong.
Show up better.

Follow for more no-BS nutrition that actually works.
