Home. Itā€™s so much more than a word.

Itā€™s where I feel safe, supported, and surrounded by love. Itā€™s where Iā€™ve learned to trust Godā€™s design for birth and beyond. Itā€™s where I first held my babies in my arms and heard their little cries. Itā€™s where some of my most treasured memories have been made

Today is my youngest sonā€™s birthday, and as I look back on the day he entered this world, Iā€™m reminded of just how much meaning the word home holds. Itā€™s woven into everything I do. This video captures one of the most sacred moments of my lifeā€”welcoming one of my sons into the world, right here at home.

The word home is the heart behind Our Ash Hill Home. Itā€™s more than a business name. Itā€™s a reflection of the values I hold dearā€”family, faith, stewardship, natural living, and creating a place where those we love can flourish.

Today, we celebrate our big 3 year old and the day he made our house feel even more like home. šŸ’™

I canā€™t tell you how many times Iā€™ve had people make comments about my ā€œvoo doo magicā€ or how Iā€™m a ā€œwitch doctor.ā€

While most of the time itā€™s said jokingly and no ill intent is given, itā€™s very important to me that Iā€™m clear about the intention behind the products I make-the products that you bring into your home and use on your family. I believe intention matters just as much as the ingredients used. Itā€™s one reason I quit using Dr Bronnerā€™s soap even though the quality of the ingredients is excellentā€”IYKYK, but thatā€™s a story for another day. šŸ™ƒ

While I donā€™t believe itā€™s necessarily for every business owner to announce their religion or discuss their faith, there seem to be some blurred lines in the world of herbalism and natural healing, and I want to make my lines very crisp.

My approach to herbalism is rooted in Christian faith, biblical truth, and a God-given desire to learn everything I can about the plants he placed on this earth for our service. I believe God created plants with purpose, just as He did me. Itā€™s important to me that I steward both of those well. Doing so allows me to fulfill another purpose-serving as a wife and mother to the blessings He has entrusted to me.

For those of you who have supported me throughout this journeyā€”I appreciate you more than you will ever know. Though I donā€™t live for the applause of man, it sure is nice to know that the desires placed on my heart are well-received and have been used to bless not just my family, but yours as well. Thank you for that.

For 2+ years I have been collecting jars with this specific vision in mind. Some were collected just for looks. Others came from people who thought they were just getting rid of old jars, but to me it was part of a vision. Jars from places like The Bee Hive, the local health and wellness store that existed long before I even know what calendula was. Others from another maker deciding to take her storefront back home to be with her family.

Maybe Iā€™m just an herb geek, but I feel like this space deserves its own photoshoot. The texture and color of the herbs. The freshly washed glass. The labels punched out letter by letter.

Iā€™ve always said I want to have Belleā€™s library in The Beauty and the Beast, but with herbs. I think this is a beautiful first step.

I love to listen to podcasts while working and Iā€™m trying to dabble in audiobooks. So many Iā€™ve tried have been dry. Not this one! It truly made me think and reflect, and even brought me to tears during some parts.
