Today, we slowed down, appreciated the little things, and celebrated the International Day of Peace with a meaningful resident activity focused on peace, kindness, connection, and good memories.

Our residents created their own beautiful paper doves and shared what peace means to them and the little things that bring peace into their lives — a familiar song, a good conversation, a warm smile, a special memory, or simply spending time with someone they care about. 🕊️

Each dove became a little reminder that peace can look different for everyone, but it often begins with something simple: kindness, compassion, connection, and lifting one another up.

We loved watching our residents put their own personal touches on each dove and proudly hold up their beautiful creations. These little moments are what make our days at Brightwood so special.

May we choose peace.
May we choose kindness.
May we choose to lift one another up.

Because sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.

At Brightwood, we wanted to stand alongside Carter’s family, his loved ones, his friends, his teammates, his classmates, and the entire Oak Glen community during this heartbreaking time.

Sometimes, there simply aren’t words big enough to express the depth of a loss like this. So today, we chose to show our love and support in the way we could — by wearing his colors and letting his family know that they are not alone. Carter’s life mattered. His presence mattered. And the impact he made on those who knew and loved him will continue to live on. From all of us at Brightwood, please know that our hearts are with Carter’s family and everyone grieving this unimaginable loss. We are holding you close in our thoughts and prayers and sending you strength, comfort, and love in the days ahead.

Mindful Monday:
“A Little Wisdom Goes a Long Way “

In honor of National Senior Citizens Day which was August 21, we loved taking the time to hear from our residents and learn from their stories, memories, and life experiences.

Our residents have lived through generations of change, experienced countless moments of joy and challenges, built families, made memories, and learned lessons that simply can’t be found in a book.

So today, we’re asking our residents these questions to share with everyone -

* What is one piece of advice you would give to the younger generation?

* What is something life has taught you?

*What is one thing that always makes you smile?

*What is something you are proud of?

Sometimes the most meaningful lessons come from the people who have walked the road before us.

This Mindful Monday, let’s us remember to listen, learn, laugh, and appreciate the stories and wisdom of those around us.

Because every resident has a story… and every story is worth hearing. ❤️
