Anchor of Hope Foundation Through scholarships, respite, support, advocacy, and resources, we reach deeper into our community to serve the 1 in 6 facing developmental disability.

Business Hours: Appointment Only The Anchor of Hope Foundation was founded in 2007 by Steve and Debbie Harbin. When their youngest son, Jacob was diagnosed with autism at age 3, they quickly discovered the need for resources and support services for families with developmental disabilities, specifically in Georgia. Anchor of Hope was founded to connect families with resources and to build community around them. Anchor of Hope now provides scholarships to help cover the cost of therapy, equipment, and services; a monthly respite program; an Autism Awareness Festival; advocacy; and resources. What does hope look like to you? 💙

Maybe it’s watching your child try something new. Finding a program that finally feels like the right fit. Getting the support you need to keep moving forward. Having a job you’re proud of. Or maybe it’s knowing that you’re not navigating everything alone.

At Anchor of Hope, we’ve seen that hope can look different for every individual and every family. Sometimes it shows up in big milestones. Sometimes it’s found in the smallest moments.

A new experience.
A little more confidence.
A new opportunity.
A reason to smile.

Those moments matter.

So we want to hear from you: What does hope look like in your life?

Share it with us in the comments. 💙

A sense of purpose can start with something as simple as being given the chance to participate.

At Anchor of Hope, we’re working toward creating real opportunities that build confidence, skills, and a sense of purpose for individuals with developmental disabilities. H&J Sauces is one way we’re beginning to put that vision into practice. Individuals have opportunities to be involved in the hands-on work behind the business, from labeling and packing products to stocking, marketing, and fulfilling orders.

There is still work ahead as we continue developing our vision for supported employment, but H&J is helping us explore what those opportunities can look like and what can grow from them.

Every purchase of H&J Sauces supports Anchor of Hope’s broader vision for supported employment and future opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. So when you purchase a bottle, you’re helping us continue building toward more opportunities for the people we serve.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re grateful for everyone who has supported H&J and helped us move this work forward.

What a day! ⛳💙

Last week, 72 golfers across 18 teams came together for the Anchor of Hope Annual Golf Tournament, helping us raise over $25,000! We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up and helped make this possible.

These funds will help us provide scholarships to more families, develop our supported employment program so adults with developmental disabilities can experience purpose and presence in their communities, and create more opportunities for connection through community events.

A special thank-you to our top sponsors, Harbin Engineering, P.C. Harbin Engineering, North Macon Family Healthcare Associates , Awakenings Medical Center, and Georgia Power for their generous support. Also, thank you to Chick-fil-A Zebulon Road in Macon for providing lunch for the day, and to every golfer, volunteer, business, and community member who helped make the tournament a success.

We’re grateful to have a community that continues to show up for the individuals and families we serve. Thank you for being part of this day and helping Anchor of Hope continue its work!

When we first introduced you to Bradley, we shared a little about his family and the journey they’ve been on to find the right opportunities for him.

Along the way, one thing has remained clear: the right support can open the door to experiences that might otherwise feel out of reach.

With help from an Anchor of Hope scholarship, Bradley was able to participate in music therapy at TheraBeat. For his family, it meant more than access to a program. It meant finding something that brought Bradley joy and gave him another opportunity to learn, grow, and experience something new.

That’s really what hope looks like.

Sometimes it’s a new experience. Sometimes it’s a moment of confidence. Sometimes it’s watching your child light up because they’ve found something they love.

For Bradley and his family, there is still so much ahead, and we’re grateful to be a small part of their journey.

Thank you to everyone who helps make moments like these possible for families across Georgia. Your support helps create opportunities, one family at a time.

The right support at the right time can change what’s possible.

For families supporting a child or adult with a developmental disability, there can be a lot to figure out.

- Which therapy is the right fit?
- How do we pay for it?
- Where can we find the equipment they need?
- What opportunities are available when insurance or Medicaid doesn’t cover the full cost?

Sometimes, the answer is a scholarship.

Since 2009, Anchor of Hope has helped families access therapies, equipment, and resources that may not be covered by insurance or Medicaid.

Behind every scholarship is a person. A child getting to try something new. A family finding a little breathing room. An individual getting the support they need to keep growing.

When a family finds the right support, it can mean so much more than the support itself. It can mean hope for what comes next. 💙

Every family deserves to find a place where their child feels welcome. 💛

Last month, we introduced you to Bradley and his family. Today, we want to share a little more of their story.

Finding activities and programs where Bradley can participate safely, comfortably, and alongside others hasn't always been easy. His family has had to navigate programs that weren't equipped to meet his needs while continuing to look for opportunities where Bradley could simply be himself and enjoy being part of the community.

For families like Bradley's, that search can take time, patience, and a lot of advocacy. But finding the right opportunity can make a world of difference. Because inclusion isn't just about having somewhere to go. It's about having the chance to learn, connect, grow, make memories, and experience joy.

That's why we're so passionate about creating more opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and the families who support them.

Every individual deserves to feel like they belong.
