***There is an emotional component to physical pain***

Current scientific research strongly supports that emotions and traumatic experiences are expressed through the body and can create long-lasting changes in the nervous system, connective tissue tension, posture, immune function, hormone regulation, and body awareness. And somatic psychologists teach us something that bodyworkers have long known; there is an emotional component to physical unease.

It takes courage to name and face an emotion, feel its pain, converse, sit with it, listen to it, and really pay attention to it. When we do, we will transform both the pain and our cells (ourselves) holding this distortion.

Heart Centered Therapy supports this therapeutic dialogue without judgment, from a heartfelt place. Sessions are done either in person or virtual and take about an hour to 90 minutes to complete. The beginning series of 3 sessions will work with self, parents, and ancestral lineage. The subsequent series begins to work with cellular healing and birth/conception potentialities.

For a long time now, I have taught that depth is a location, not a pressure. As my practice has revolved around working with the body instead of on it, often I find the less input the better. It feels respectful to only provide enough stimulus and support where needed, versus using my body to beat up yours! I wish deep tissue didn’t equate to deep pressure in people’s minds, because remember - depth is a location not a pressure.

Here’s a little science to back up my claim 🙂
