I love how she defines emotion in this quote. I've played in the emotional layer for many years now and have found that the emotions are absolutely brimming with useful information. When we can welcome them, they give us what we need to navigate life.

I had a client recently who came to me in considerable pain that flared up after a meeting with her soon-to-be ex-husband. She complained of always picking up his negative energy and how she felt helplessly vulnerable to him. We talked about boundaries, energetic and interpersonal, and she wanted to know how to protect herself. Boundaries are strongly connected to our sense of safety - strong, healthy boundaries promote a sense of safety, a lack of boundaries feels dangerous and can keep us stuck in defensive states. I felt that she was stuck in a defensive state and we needed to help her move out of it and feel more safety in her body. I taught her how to do Embodied Scanning, a simple technique we teach in our Healing Through the Vagus Nerve course for practitioners. She commented after just a minute of practicing it that she felt much calmer. She committed to doing it regularly and to writing down a list of boundaries she wants to create for herself. After doing some Healing Touch and Emotion Code work, she remarked that the significant sciatic pain she'd been in constantly for the last week or so was now gone. I also guided her through the Occupy Your Space technique to strengthen her energy field against negative energy from others. She left the office feeling like a different person - calm, pain-free and empowered. So many of our children have already been struggling with the effects of modern living. Now with the Covid 19 pandemic and the associated changes in their schooling, social and physical activities, and increased fear in society, a lot of our kids (and their parents) are feeling especially challenged. Add to this the recent events sparking protests across the nation and the intensity of the time is difficult to manage, to say the least.

Energetic Self-Care for Teens is not your typical stress-reduction class. In this course we talk about cutting-edge science on the nervous system to give you a clear understanding of why your teen (and you) may be struggling with: overwhelm, anxious feelings, feeling overly affected by others’ emotions and what’s going on around them. Then we will share evidence-based practices to help you manage with greater ease and confidence.

In this online course, you and your teen will:

· Learn how stress and overwhelm affect your emotions, your physical body, and your energy body.
· Practice simple techniques for staying “grounded” and learn why it is so important.
· Learn to use EFT Tapping to process emotional energy in healthy ways and to incorporate self compassion.
· Learn how to help the body experience a sense of safety, allowing the mind and emotions to calm.
· Learn to identify what state you’re in and choose appropriate techniques to address it.
