There is something interesting about the way we think about time when it comes to our health.

We can accept taking the same medication for years without expecting the underlying situation to change quickly. But when someone chooses to look more deeply at what may be contributing to their symptoms, there is often an expectation that they should feel better almost immediately.

And if they don't, people begin to question the path.

But a body that has been carrying chronic illness, environmental exposures, nutritional deficiencies, stress, viruses, or other burdens for years may need time.

That doesn't mean you ignore symptoms or refuse appropriate medical care. It means you understand that supporting the foundations of health is not always a quick process.

I've worked with patients long enough to know how tempting it is to measure progress in days and weeks. The body is often working on a much longer timeline.

Sometimes patience isn't evidence that something isn't working. It's part of giving the body the time and support it needs.

If you know someone who has been discouraged because their healing is taking longer than they hoped, share this with them.

The answer isn’t always a simple yes or no.

Many people on a natural healing journey want to minimize pharmaceuticals—and there are legitimate reasons to use medications thoughtfully.

Pharmaceuticals can have significant adverse effects, just as herbs and supplements can have contraindications and interactions. Yet I often see far more fear surrounding supplements than the available evidence necessarily supports.

Curcumin and ginger, for example, can affect platelet activity, but that doesn’t automatically mean they cause clinically significant bleeding. Human evidence, particularly with ginger, is limited and inconsistent.

That doesn’t mean we ignore potential interactions.

It means we look at the whole person and the whole combination:

Dose.
Formulation.
Medications.
Other supplements.
Health history.
Frequency of use.
And supplement quality matters.

Not all supplements are created equal. Concentration, sourcing, extraction, bioavailability, added ingredients and manufacturing/testing can vary considerably between products.

🌿 Vimergy is my go-to for many of the supplements I personally use and recommend. I’m an affiliate, so if you shop through the link in my bio, new customers receive 20% off and returning customers 5% off. 🌿

When pain is significant, medication can also be a useful tool. Using an NSAID or acetaminophen strategically when you need additional pain relief doesn’t mean you’ve abandoned a natural approach.

Natural medicine + conventional medicine can coexist.

We don’t need fear on either side. We need good information, quality products and thoughtful, individualized choices.

For a deeper dive into different types of pain and natural supportive strategies, my Chronic Pain Guide is available in my Etsy shop. Comment GUIDES and I’ll send you a link to shop.

Before food. Before your day starts. Before anything else. 🍋

Here's the simplest thing I do for my digestion every single morning.

I squeeze one whole lemon into 32 ounces of purified water and drink it first thing.

Why first? After a full night without water, your body wakes up thirsty. Lemon water hydrates you right away and helps your body keep cleansing from the night before.

And that's just the start. Lemon water brings vitamin C and minerals, and supports:

🍋 Digestion
🍋 Your immune system
🍋 Heart and muscle function
🍋 Your body's natural detox processes

It can also support bile production in the liver and stomach acid levels in the gut, which is exactly why I drink it before I eat anything.

After years of helping people heal, here's what I know: Your morning routine is the foundation of the day. We can build from there

The habits that change things are the ones you actually keep.

New to this? Start tomorrow morning with half a lemon in 16 ounces of purified water. That's it. 💛

Save this so you remember when you wake up.

When will I feel better? When will this shift? When will my body finally cooperate?

When you’ve been struggling for a long time, it’s hard not to ask these questions. You want to see progress. You want reassurance that what you’re doing is working. You want to know that you’re moving in the right direction.

But the body is always working on your behalf.

The path forward doesn’t require certainty. It requires presence. And presence doesn’t ask you to have it all figured out. It just asks you to show up, right here, right now, and trust that your body knows more than your fear does.

Your healing is not late. It is not behind schedule. It is unfolding in its own time, in its own way, and your only job right now is to stay with it.

Stay with it. Stay with yourself.

& if someone you love is struggling with the timeline of their healing, share this with them as a reminder to stay with it.

Some days, it does not feel like one symptom asking for attention.

Digestion feels off. Your thinking is foggy. Your energy is difficult to sustain. Stress feels harder for the body to carry.

It is easy to begin treating each of these as a separate problem, but the body does not work in separate compartments. This is one of the reasons I continue returning to celery juice.

Within the digestive system, celery juice helps good bacteria thrive, supports a balanced microbiome, soothes inflammation, and helps repair the intestinal lining. It also boosts hydrochloric acid, which supports digestion and helps prevent bloating.

But its support does not stop with the gut.

Celery juice helps address ammonia permeability and brain fog, enhances mental clarity, and supports neuron function. It also supports the adrenals and kidneys for better energy balance while providing essential mineral salts for deep cellular hydration.

It is also valued for helping prevent migraines, supporting DNA repair, and providing relief when the body is under stress.

This does not mean one food solves every health concern. It means a single foundational practice can sometimes offer meaningful support to several systems at once.

If someone you know thinks celery juice is only about digestion, share this with them.

What does Medical Medium have to say about these lab tests for Rheumatoid Arthritis? We call these MM Wisdom Pearls...

🩸 RA Tests
These tests don’t identify the viral pathogen believed to cause RA. Rather, they serve as benchmarks for inflammation in the body, though not always accurate indicators of how much inflammation is truly present.

🩸 RF Blood Test
Checks for antibodies doctors believe are associated with RA. However, this test can return positive results in healthy people or those with unrelated conditions like lupus, while some people with RA symptoms may test negative... therefore, not very reliable.

🩸 Anti-CCP Antibody Blood Test
This newer test is better at identifying RA inflammation cases than the RF test, but it’s still far from definitive. The question is, what’s it really detecting? Because remember, they don’t know the cause of RA.

To see the rest of the Medical Medium Wisdom Pearls regarding Rheumatoid Arthritis and many other lab tests, get our Ask the Docs PDF guide, The Art & Science of Diagnostic Testing. Available through the link in my bio.

When you have lived with chronic symptoms for years, you learn to pay very close attention to your body.

Every sensation means something. Every change makes you wonder what caused it. You start questioning foods, supplements, environments, medications, even the smallest decisions because you are trying so hard to understand what your body needs.

That vigilance makes sense. You have been searching for answers.

But over time, it can also create a relationship with your body that is built almost entirely around what might be going wrong.

One of the things I try to remind my patients is that your body has never stopped working on your behalf. Even when symptoms are loud. Even when progress is difficult to see. Even when you don't understand why you feel the way you do.

Supporting healing matters. Learning matters. Making thoughtful changes matters. But you don't have to believe your body’s healing depends on getting every single decision right.

Part of healing can also be learning to recognize your body as something you can work with again, rather than something you are constantly trying to fix.

Consistency, over the long term, is everything, and when you are not looking, the "wins" start sneaking up on you!

If someone you love has been struggling to trust their body again, consider sharing this with them today.

There’s a deeper timing at work. Call it divine timing, universal timing, God’s timing, or simply the intelligence of your own biology.

Whatever language resonates with you, the principle is the same: healing operates on a schedule that the mind cannot dictate. Your liver doesn’t detox on your calendar. Your nervous system doesn’t rebuild on a deadline. The body has its own sacred rhythm, and it will not be rushed, no matter how much we bargain with it.

But trusting that timing doesn’t mean becoming passive.

It doesn’t mean you stop asking questions, stop supporting your body, or stop looking for answers. It means continuing to show up even when you can’t control when the outcome will come.

That’s the kind of faith I’m talking about. Not blind faith that ignores reality, but the quiet, grounded faith that says, I don’t understand the timing, and I’m still choosing to show up.

You can do the work without demanding a deadline from your body.

You can keep moving forward without knowing exactly when things will change.

What would it look like to keep showing up for your body without asking it to follow your timeline?
