💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

At Gifted by Grace Doula Services, we believe every person deserves to feel safe, respected, heard, and supported—at home, in relationships, and within our communities.

Domestic violence does not always leave visible bruises. It can include emotional abuse, intimidation, isolation, financial control, threats, stalking, and other behaviors used to maintain power and control. This month, we stand with survivors, honor those whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence, and encourage our community to continue breaking the silence.

💜 Believe survivors.
💜 Learn the warning signs.
💜 Check on the people you love.
💜 Share resources without judgment.
💜 Remind survivors that they are not alone.

🩷🩵 October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. 🩵🩷

At Gifted by Grace Doula Services, we recognize that not every pregnancy journey ends the way a family hoped or prayed it would. Some babies are carried for only a short time. Some are deeply loved but never make it into their parents' arms. Others arrive but leave far too soon.

As a doula, I believe support should extend beyond pregnancy and birth—it should also make space for grief, remembrance, healing, and hope.

This month, we honor the babies who are no longer physically here, the pregnancies that ended too soon, the embryos that never implanted, and every parent and family who carries a love that the world may not always see.

To anyone navigating miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, failed IVF or embryo transfer, or another form of pregnancy loss: your experience matters. Your grief matters. Your baby matters. 🕊️

May October be a reminder to speak their names, honor their memories, support grieving families, and lead with compassion. Sometimes the smallest lives leave the biggest footprints on our hearts. 👣🩷🩵

Things don’t always happen in the timing we want, but they always happen in the timing God wants. Sometimes we get frustrated, discouraged, and wonder why things aren’t moving the way we planned. But we have to remember that God sees what we cannot see. He knows what we’re not ready for yet, what we need to grow through, and what He is protecting us from.

Everything is not about our timing, our plans, or our understanding. It’s about trusting God’s plan even when we don’t understand it.
Scripture: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Trust the timing. Trust the process. Trust God.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate Santressa Mercedes Sampson, a passionate public health advocate and champion for maternal and infant wellness. Serving as Chair of Women in the NAACP (WIN) for the Phenix City–Russell County Unit, Santressa is committed to improving outcomes for women, infants, and families in our community. As the founder of Gifted by Grace Doula Services, she provides vital education, advocacy, and support for mothers throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Through her professional work, graduate research, and community outreach, Santressa continues to raise awareness around safe sleep education, maternal health equity, and infant mortality prevention. Her dedication to empowering families with knowledge and support reflects the true spirit of service and impact we celebrate this month.
