This October, let’s raise awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and staying up to date with recommended screenings.

💗 Know your body.
💗 Prioritize your health.
💗 Encourage others to do the same.

Together, we can make a difference - this October and all year long.

Why a Doctor and Dietitian, Together?

A prescription for a GLP-1 can quiet your appetite. It can't tell you what to eat, protect your muscle, or prepare you for the day you stop.

That's why Dr Siegal and I are hosting this webinar together. The patients who do best starting on a GLP-1 weight loss medication have both sides covered: the medical side and the nutrition side.

You get both sides helping you in October! Join us live!

Dr. Siegal will cover how these medications work, what's normal, what isn't, and when to call your doctor. Julie will cover what to eat, how to protect your muscle, and how to handle side effects with food. Then we'll take your questions live.

Protein and fiber aren't magic foods for diabetes, but they can be valuable tools for building meals that support blood sugar regulation, fullness, gut health and metabolic health. Focus on the whole meal, rather than labeling individual foods as “good” or “bad.”

GLP-1 isn't just a “weight-loss hormone.” It's a naturally occurring hormone involved in blood sugar regulation, insulin secretion, appetite, and digestion.

GLP-1 medications have changed the conversation around diabetes and weight management, but metabolic health is about more than medication or the number on the scale.

The foundation still matters: adequate protein, fiber-rich foods, movement, sleep and overall dietary quality.

The goal isn't simply to eat less; it's to support the body with the nutrients it needs while improving metabolic health.

Fiber is about so much more than keeping you regular. 🌱

From supporting your gut microbiome and digestive health to helping promote healthy blood sugar, cholesterol, and appetite regulation, fiber plays an important role throughout the body.

But functional nutrition asks a bigger question:

Is the amount and type of fiber right for YOU?

Your fiber needs and tolerance can vary depending on your digestive health, food choices, hydration, and individual needs.

Instead of focusing only on a number, start by adding more variety from vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.

🌱 More variety. More nourishment. More support for your whole body.

Fiber does a lot more than keep you regular. 🌱

There are two main types of dietary fiber: soluble and insoluble, and both play different roles in supporting your health.

Soluble fiber: absorbs water and can support healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels while also providing fuel for beneficial gut bacteria.

Insoluble fiber: adds bulk to stool and helps support regular bowel movements and healthy digestive movement.

But you don't have to choose between them.

The best approach? Eat a variety of fiber-rich plant foods! Vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

Because when you diversify your plants, you're not just getting more fiber, you're giving your gut microbiome a greater variety of nutrients to work with.

🌱 More variety. More fiber. More support for your whole body.
