4 Ingredient Friday šŸ¤

Orecchiette + shrimp + broccoli + pesto = a cozy pasta night that’s ready in about 20 minutes.

The trick is to toss the broccoli right into the pasta pot for the last few minutes, so you have fewer dishes to wash. The little ā€œearā€ shape of orecchiette catches all that pesto, and the shrimp keeps you full with plenty of protein.

Want to make it extra? Top it with parmesan, red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon. Orecchiette with Shrimp, Pesto & Broccoli
Serves 4 | Ready in about 20 minutes

Ingredients:

12 oz orecchiette pasta
1 lb frozen raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
½ cup jarred basil pesto

Freebies: 1 tbsp olive oil, salt

Instructions:

Thaw the shrimp by running cold water over them in a colander for about 5 minutes. Pat dry.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the orecchiette according to the package directions.

During the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli to the pasta pot. Save about ½ cup of pasta water, then drain.

While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.

Add the pasta and broccoli to the skillet. Stir in the pesto with a splash of the reserved pasta water until everything is coated. Season with salt to taste.

Ingredients:

2 acorn squash, halved and seeded
1 pounds ground turkey
1 apple, diced
4 cups fresh spinach
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoons salt
0.5 teaspoons black pepper

Steps
1. Heat oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a sheet pan with parchment.
2. Roast the squash: Brush the cut sides of 2 acorn squash, halved and seeded with half of 2 tablespoons olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of 1 teaspoons salt and 0.5 teaspoons black pepper. Roast cut-side down until fork-tender.
3. Brown the turkey: While the squash roasts, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 pounds ground turkey with the rest of the 1 teaspoons salt and 0.5 teaspoons black pepper, breaking it up, and cook until browned and cooked through.
4. Add apple and spinach: Stir in 1 apple, diced and cook until just softened, then add 4 cups fresh spinach and stir until wilted.
5. Stuff and serve: Flip the squash halves cut-side up, fill each with the turkey mixture, and return to the oven to heat through.

Have you ever been told your labs were ā€œnormalā€ and still felt exhausted, foggy, or cold all the time?

Iron deficiency gets missed a lot in women - you can be low in iron without being anemic. Your hemoglobin can look fine while your iron stores are low.

Ferritin is the number to pay attention to. It measures your stored iron, and it usually drops before anything else does.

Older ferritin cutoffs were set really low (some labs flagged it only under 15), so a lot of people with depleted stores were told they were fine. The newer cutoffs are:

We see it all the time: someone tries a new habit every single week - a new supplement, a new morning routine, a new ā€˜rule’ - and burns out by week three. Here’s the truth: you don’t need more habits. You need fewer habits, done consistently. Pick one thing. Stick with it for a month before adding anything else. That’s how real change happens. What’s one habit you’ve actually stuck with long-term? Tell us below!
