Have you ever felt like you needed to do more or be better to feel worthy of love?

Sometimes, we carry the belief that our value depends on our performance, appearance, or something external. We strive for perfection, seek approval, and become our own harshest critics when we fall short.

But God’s love is not a reward for perfect behavior. His grace is a gift we receive, not something we earn. 🤍
This doesn’t mean we stop growing or taking responsibility for our actions. It means we can pursue growth from a place of already BEING loved rather than striving to become lovable. We need to be secured in perfect Love.

We are all His works in progress. You can acknowledge mistakes and learn from them. You don’t have to earn what God lovingly offers. You can rest in His grace while He continues His work in you. Receive His gift today.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith... it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

Your value is not determined by someone else’s approval.

When approval becomes the measure of our worth, relationships can begin to feel like a constant test we have to pass. Healing starts with recognizing these patterns and learning to anchor our identity in something deeper than performance. God’s grace invites us to live from a place of being loved, not striving to become lovable.

SELF-CARE & SURRENDER | PART 4

Sometimes, the exhaustion we feel isn’t just from everything we’re doing. It’s from everything we’re trying to manage.

We replay conversations, anticipate every possible outcome, worry about the people we love, and try to find the perfect words or next steps to make everything turn out okay.

We may even call it being responsible, prepared, or caring deeply. But sometimes, beneath our efforts is a quiet belief that if we just try hard enough, we can prevent things from falling apart.

But caring about something doesn’t mean you’re responsible for controlling it. God invites us to be faithful with what He has placed in our hands, while trusting Him.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

Surrender doesn’t mean becoming passive, giving up responsibility, or pretending that something doesn’t matter. It means doing what is yours to do and releasing the outcome to the One who sees what you cannot.

You can love someone without controlling their choices.
You can make a decision without knowing exactly how it will turn out.
You can take the next step without having the entire path figured out.
And you can care deeply without carrying everything.

A gentle question to sit with this week:
What am I trying to control that God may be inviting me to surrender?

You don’t have to figure everything out. You can take a breath, release what isn’t yours to carry, and trust that God is still at work—even when you cannot see how things will unfold. Living in peace before an outcome is true freedom!

SELF-CARE & SURRENDER | PART 3: You Don’t Have to Earn Rest

Do you ever feel like you have to finish everything on your to-do list before you can rest? Maybe slowing down leaves you feeling guilty, unproductive, or like you should be doing more?

When our worth becomes tied to what we accomplish, rest can start to feel like something we have to earn rather than something we receive. But God never asked us to prove our worth through productivity. Jesus invites the weary to come to Him and find rest (Matthew 11:28).

Rest isn’t a reward for doing enough. It’s a reminder that you are human, not limitless, and that your worth has never depended on how much you accomplish. Your worth comes from being HIS. You can be faithful in what God has entrusted to you while also recognizing your need to pause, receive His grace, and let Him carry you.

You don’t have to do more to be enough. Let everything you do flow from the heart position of knowing He is enough in every situation!

“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.” — Hebrews 4:1 🕊️

SELF-CARE & SURRENDER | PART 2

Maybe you’re good at holding it all together. You show up, get things done, take care of others, and keep pushing through. But constantly being “the strong one” can become exhausting.

Sometimes what looks like strength can actually be overfunctioning, people-pleasing, perfectionism, difficulty asking for help, or trying to control an outcome. And underneath it may be the fear: “If I don’t hold everything together, who will?”

Healthy self-care might mean setting a boundary, resting, or asking for support. But surrender asks a deeper question: What am I carrying that God never asked me to carry alone?

Surrender doesn’t mean becoming passive. It means recognizing the difference between what is mine to steward and what is God’s to carry. I can faithfully do my part without trying to control every outcome.

This actually relieves stress and pressure. You don’t have to be the strong one all the time. You are allowed to need help. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to not have all the answers!

God is still God when you aren’t holding everything together. Where might you be overfunctioning right now? What would it look like to do your part—and surrender the rest to God? 🙏

SELF-CARE & SURRENDER | PART 1 🤍

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

Caring for ourselves matters. Rest, healthy boundaries, movement, nourishing our bodies, and making space to recharge are all important.

But sometimes we can do all the “right” things and still feel deeply weary. That’s because not every kind of exhaustion can be fixed with another strategy.
Sometimes beneath the busyness, striving, people-pleasing, or pressure are deeper needs: to feel seen, to process what we’re carrying, to receive support, and to remember that our worth isn’t dependent on what we accomplish.

Self-care asks, “What do I need?”
As Christians, we can ask, “Jesus, what are You inviting me to surrender and receive from You?”
Jesus doesn’t say, “Figure it all out and then come to Me.” He says, “Come to me.” 🙏

You can practice healthy self-care while also learning to surrender what you were never meant to carry alone. Come to Him, listen, and you will find life!

A practical tool for heart-level forgiveness: REACH 🤍

Forgiveness can feel overwhelming when we think of it as one giant emotional decision. The REACH model, developed by forgiveness researcher Dr. Everett Worthington, offers a practical framework for moving through unresolved hurt.

R — Recall the hurt
Honestly acknowledge what happened and how it affected you. Forgiveness doesn’t mean minimizing the offense or pretending it didn’t matter.

E — Empathize
When safe and appropriate, seek to understand the humanity and perspective of the person who hurt you. Empathy doesn’t excuse harmful behavior.

A — Altruistic gift of forgiveness
Remember the forgiveness you have received through Christ. Because we have been freely forgiven, we can ask God to help us extend that same grace to others—and learn to receive His forgiveness for ourselves.

C — Commit to forgiveness
Put your decision into words: “Today, by God’s grace, I choose to forgive ___ for ___.” Forgiveness can be both an instantaneous decision and an ongoing healing process.

H — Hold onto forgiveness
Painful memories may resurface. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Bring the pain back to God and return to your decision: “Lord, I chose to release this yesterday, and today I choose to release it again.”
And remember: forgiveness does not require reconciliation, restored trust, or removing healthy boundaries.

Forgiveness is not about carrying the weight of what happened forever. It’s about surrendering that weight to God and taking intentional steps toward the freedom, healing, and peace He desires for us.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
— Ephesians 4:32
