What Causes Lip Asymmetry?

There are many reasons why one side of your mouth might not match the other. Asymmetrical lips can be caused by factors such as:

☑️aging
☑️weak facial muscles
☑️dental work
☑️injury
☑️medical condition
☑️genetics

You may notice that half of your upper or lower lip is smaller than the other. Similarly, half of your lip might lack definition. It’s also possible that the points of your Cupid’s bow don’t line up. Dermal fillers can treat all of these forms of lip asymmetry.

There are a few main reasons I might say NO to more LIP FILLER:

1) Balance - If more lip filler will create an unbalanced appearance. The goal is always to achieve symmetry and facial harmonization.

2) Previous Filler Migration - if there is any noticeable filler migration then this will need to be dissolved before more filler can be injected.

3) Too Much Too Soon - It’s best to go slow and inject one syringe at a time. Injecting a large amount of lip filler all at once will cause too much trauma to the tissue, could permanently effect the laxity of the skin, and cause the filler to migrate.

4) Unrealistic Expectations - I cannot give you someone else’s lips. I can enhance the size of your lips, following your natural lip shape and anatomy.

Let’s reframe the way we think about anti-aging!

Historically, women specifically have been hesitant to divulge their age as they mature. That may be because they felt uncomfortable with the number or insecure in their appearance.

I recently celebrated 48 years around the sun! 💫 I have also been fortunate to be a part of an industry for 18 of those years that helps to fight aging insecurities and celebrates aging in a way that YOU get to define.

Aging is a natural part of living, and it’s a sign of wisdom, experience, and resilience. By taking care of our bodies and minds as we age, we’re not trying to turn back the clock or erase the past – we’re honoring the journey that has brought us to where we are today.

Lip Filler Dissolution 101: 3 Essential Things to Know!

1⃣ It can take time: If you’re unhappy with your lip filler results or want to reverse them, dissolution is an effective solution. The process typically takes around 30 minutes, and you’ll see immediate results! However, it can take more than one visit to completely dissolve your lip filler.

2⃣ Expect some swelling: Just like with the lip filler procedure itself, these injections are going to cause some swelling. Swelling can last 5 to 7 days.

3⃣ Be patient: It’s best to wait until the lips are completely healed from the dissolving treatment before lip filler is re-injected. For that reason, a minimum of two weeks is recommended before injecting lips again.

Make sure to find a qualified and experienced professional to perform the dissolution. They’ll assess your lips and determine the best course of treatment for your individual needs.

This one is for all our soon to be Mama friends who tell us TOX is for sure their strongest craving ever! 🤣

Just a reminder:

According to the FDA, Botox is a category C drug during pregnancy. This means there are not a sufficient number of studies to show its safety during pregnancy.

While there is not sufficient evidence that proves Botox is harmful to the fetus, there is also not enough evidence to suggest that it is safe to use during pregnancy. For that reason, all neurotoxins are contraindicated for our expecting clients.

As much as we wish there was a topical ingredient or pregnancy-safe in-office treatment that perfectly mimics the magical results of neurotoxins, that’s simply not the reality.

That said, there are a handful of treatments that can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the interim before tox is back on the table:

Frequently Asked Questions: Can you have a cocktail AFTER having Botox/Dysport/Xeomin? Alcohol is a blood thinner and may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding after tox. This can definitely affect your recovery. If this is not a concern, I say sure, have a cocktail! Others are concerned about alcohol drying the skin out and lengthening recovery time. Again, if you’re not concerned about recovery time then in most cases it is safe to have a glass of wine after tox. However, if you ever feel dizzy or light headed after your injections, skip the cocktail and hydrate with water. *This answer is based on my own clinical experience.
