One year ago, I was on crutches recovering from my second hip surgery. This past weekend, I marked that anniversary with a 10-mile run, my sweet Zoey by my side, & a whole lot of gratitude. ๐
But the journey between these two photos has been anything but linear.
Having gone through hip surgery 16 years ago, I thought I knew what to expect. What I didnโt anticipate was just how humbling, mentally exhausting, & emotionally challenging this second recovery would be.
There were months of physical therapy, countless hours rebuilding strength & mobility, unexpected setbacks, & some genuinely scary moments when the pain felt worse than before surgery. More doctorโs visits, additional imaging, & plenty of quiet uncertainty about whether Iโd ever feel like myself again.
Through the frustration & tears, I poured so much time & energy into my rehab, learning to be patient with a process that often felt anything but predictable.
And little by little, things finally began to turn a corner.
Today, Iโm back to running, feeling stronger, & rediscovering the movement I love. Iโm still very much a work in progress, but it feels wonderful to be here!
This past year has reminded me that

A special thank you to Chris for being my rock through the toughest days, & sweet Zoey for being my faithful little companion along the way.
Hereโs to appreciating the little victories & never taking the ability to move our bodies for granted.
