💪 Ladies, can we PLEASE retire the fear of getting “bulky” from lifting weights?
Especially after 40, we have much bigger things to worry about than whether picking up a heavier dumbbell will make us too muscular. 🙄
Here’s what deserves more of our attention:
🦴 Bone density — As we age, especially during and after menopause, declining bone density increases our risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Strength training helps us maintain stronger bones.
💪 Muscle loss — We naturally lose muscle as we get older. And without strength training, that loss can affect everything from our metabolism to our balance, mobility, and independence.
❤️ Heart health — Regular exercise, including resistance training, helps support a healthy heart and reduce cardiovascular risk.
💉 And a quick note for women using GLP-1 medications for weight loss: Preserving muscle and bone health deserves extra attention! Rapid or significant weight loss can mean losing lean tissue along with body fat. Strength training and adequate nutrition are important parts of protecting your long-term health.
🔥 But here’s what REALLY matters to me…
Being able to carry your groceries, get up off the floor, climb stairs, travel, play with your grandkids, and keep doing the things you LOVE.
THAT is what we’re training for.
Not a smaller clothing size. Not a lower number on the scale. Not fitting someone else’s idea of what our bodies should look like.
We’re building bodies that can keep up with the lives we want to live.
And no, you don’t need to spend hours in a gym or lift the heaviest weights in the room.
You just need to start where you are, build strength progressively, and keep moving forward.
Because the goal isn’t just to look good as we get older.
It’s to AGE STRONG. 💪
