NAHE Hemp Farms

We’re proud to share that NAHE Farms has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Composting for Community Mini-Grant from the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR).

This $10,000 award supports our work in the Bronx to turn food waste into community power. Through our “From Waste to Wealth” initiative, we collect food scraps from Bathgate Avenue residents, Fordham University, and local businesses, transforming them into compost and biochar used in community gardens and rural farmland.
This funding will allow us to:

Expand composting operations at Bathgate Community Garden and Cookes Community Farm
Train youth in composting, soil health, and green workforce skills
Build a stronger, local circular system that keeps resources in our community

From the heart of the Bronx to the backwoods of New York, we’re creating real climate solutions rooted in equity and action.
Thank you to ILSR and the Community Composter Coalition for supporting this work.

Stay tuned and get involved.

We’re excited to share a major step forward for NAHE LLC (NAHE Farms) 🌱
We’ve been invited into a follow-up discussion with the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) to advance our project focused on regenerative agriculture and farmer support systems.
This work is deeply rooted in our partnerships with underserved farmers across Upstate New York, including Amish communities who often face limited access to resources, equipment, and infrastructure.
Our goal is simple but powerful:
🏠 Build a shared “Hub Farm” system that helps farmers adopt regenerative practices like cover cropping, grazing, and soil restoration and using h**p waste to create Biochar.
👉 Create opportunities for collaboration, learning, and long-term sustainability
🫶 Strengthen rural communities through practical, working solutions
This isn’t just research—it’s about building something that works for farmers every day.
We’re grateful for the opportunity and ready to take this to the next level.
💚 Thank you to everyone supporting this journey.
