As I began to examine myself in my own life, I started to gain greater insight about my internal thoughts-my heart.

The self-reflection that followed to self-awareness.

Self-awareness led to empowering transformation.

My connection with God became stronger. My confidence in God’s word strengthened and my relationships have become more meaningful.

Taking the journey with a Christian therapist can help@you compassionately work through your life experiences and transform the way you show up in your life.

Therapist help people in a myriad of ways! Sometimes you need help working through life challenges. Sometimes you want to work through personal growth and development.

Both are completely appropriate reasons to see a therapist.

The ideal client for therapy is one that embraces therapy as a journey and with curiosity and compassion seeks to learn about themselves in relation to others.

The ideal client looks for ways to make changes that help them build the life they want to build.

Your circumstances may include limitations but what you do within the limits may also help you feel safer, feel empowered, and make changes.

Therapy is a great resource to help you make the changes in your life that will improve your relationship with yourself and others.

What you do between therapy sessions makes a huge impact on therapeutic outcomes. How you care for yourself, the way you integrate nurturing and life giving practices into your daily life , and how you integrate what you learn in therapy is key to the transformation.

Many people will claim they don’t have time for a daily walk or two, but what if..

The walk included listening to a podcast
Sharing it with your family
Prayer and meditation
Time with a friend

A morning walk before 9 a.m. without sunglasses might be the most powerful thing you do for yourself! It truly sets the stage for a better day! Don’t look directly at the sun! Your eyes are absorbing the light simply by being outside without sunglasses.

The photoreceptors in your retina receive the light through your suprachiasmatic nucleus which send s messages to virtually every cell in your body. Information from Dr. Andrew Huberman

Your morning walk prepares your body in a unique way for better sleep at night, sharper focus during the day, males your immune system stronger, helps regulate your hormones, and puts you in a better mood!

Making it a daily practice is the best way to see all the changes listed above!

All information in this post regarding light therapy is derived from Dr. Andrew Huberman!

The only way therapy helps you is if you leave therapy recognizing patterns in your life, how they developed, and you slowly but intentionally transform them.

Questions you should be answering in therapy:

“What’s happening for me in this situation?”

“What’s happening to me in this situation?”

“How am I responding to this situation?”

“What would i like to be different in this situation?”

“How might I change how I show up in this situation?”

Food is so important to our daily functioning and well being. What we eat affects our brain and our nervous system. Try adding some fermented foods to your daily food intake.

I use sheep milk purchased from a regenerative farmer.

From the research:
* Sheep milk carries approximately 14 g of protein per cup, nearly double cow’s milk. Steady protein means steady blood sugar, and a steady blood sugar is one of the quietest ways to keep the nervous system out of alarm.
* Overnight, the kefir cultures pre-digest that protein into peptides your gut absorbs with less effort. Less digestive work, less stress signal from the gut to the brain.
* Some of the peptides bind calcium and carry it across the gut wall. Calcium and magnesium are what your nerves use to fire and to settle.
* Fermentation adds B vitamins (B12, folate) that the brain uses to make serotonin and GABA, the neurotransmitters of steadiness and rest.
* Live cultures feed the gut microbiome, and the gut talks to the brain through the vagus nerve. A more diverse microbiome has been tied to lower inflammatory markers, and inflammation is one of the body’s loudest threat signals.

Some clients prefer a Christian therapist. Some do not care. Some prefer not to have a Christian therapist. While being a Christian isn’t not a prerequisite for being my client, knowing how my worldview is informed is sometimes helpful for clients.

The trend to move away from integrating Christianity in therapy has created somewhat of a divide for people who are practicing Christians and want a Christian therapist. I want to bridge that gap!

I recently completed Biblical Counseling training and will continue to add Biblical Counseling trainings to my training schedule. Providing those seeking both a person with Biblical knowledge rooted in Christian values and beliefs and a professional counselor an integrated source.

Information is key to transforming behaviors and patters. However, looking for a label and attaching to the label of a disorder can block your ability to transform patterns and behaviors and inhibit development and growth.

As individuals we need to stop attaching to labels for ourselves and towards others and start looking for ways to transform the patterns and behaviors that are causing disfunction and challenges in our lives.

Parents: this is most important for you! Labeling your children has become a way of making an excuse instead of being informed to aiding in development and growth in a lore thoughtful way.
