🔹My favorite deadlift variation is the "rack pull". It's an abbreviated deadlift where lifters pull from knee height rather than the floor. This incorporates less lower body, and could be useful if you are lower-body dominant.
🔹By coming to a dead stop at the end of every rep, I am eliminating momentum. It also increases the degree of difficulty of any movement.
🔹You can see that every single rep begins with me pulling my elbows back before I attempt to pull the bar. I am engaging my lats and tensing my upper back to keep my spine from rounding.
🔹Today I chose to include a band to provide "accommodating resistance". This just means that the farther the bar comes off floor, the more tension is placed on the band so this 225 pound barbell weighs closer to 400 at the top of the rep.
🔹I pulled 3 sets of 20 reps at the end of today's back day to fry my low back
Tuesday's Tip from @thebodyshopgilbert! Try this booty-building superset:
🔹Leverage Squat Reverse Lunges: this is a hybrid step-up/lunge that puts the hamstring and glute through an incredible range of motion.
🔹Deadstop Stiff-Leg Deadlifts: By eliminating momentum this movement becomes much more efficient. This way, trainers have to contract the hamstring from a completely lengthened position.
