Senior Daniel Moya took advantage of the multiple opportunities that Biomed passed on. He participated in, Med-Start, a 6-week residential medical program at UofA. It provided knowledge in health exploration, various parts of the medical field, connections to medical professionals, health tours, health presentations, hands-on activities, relationships with peers going into the medical field, college life experience, mental health, the importance of counseling, and how to suture. Even received 5 college credits. Additionally, the university provided a College 101, which showed him how to fill out applications, write a personal statement, and make a resume.
The biggest group the program has had to date. Class of 2023….Let’s make it an amazing year!

Brought to you by AZHOSA.
First time for an AZ team to get on the main stage for the HOSA Bowl event and then to even medal in it. Congrats to the silver medalists.
You are looking at the 2nd place team Internationally for HOSA Bowl. Super proud considering this was the first time trying out this event.
Amazing!!! Over 120 teams competed in the 1st round knowledge test. Best 32 teams advance to the second. These 4 are sitting in 10th place heading to a family feud mixed with Jeopardy style competition bracket tomorrow. Send good luck vibes their way.
A tradition at Nationals that starts the week of competitions. Get to know other state competitors by trading state pins. Shy at first, but then the adrenaline kicks in and they go and get them.
Representing AZ-Gilbert Public Schools-Campo Verde-Biomed. Here to compete @ Nationals in HOSA. AZ 1st place HOSA Bowl team and AZ 2nd place in Pathophysiology. Good luck to them and have fun.

Year 3 took a closer look at their genes and determined if they have the bitter tasting trait. Thanks @emmakessler_ for the time lapse.
First we inserted a glow gene into bacteria. This week we extracted it and put it through a column chromatography (that each group made) to purify just the gene. Such a cool process in year 3.
Year 4 Realizing it is not as easy as it looks to do laparoscopic surgery. Teamwork required. But those faces when they successfully complete the task.
Nothing like learning about vaccines by being pathogens and sharing the information in a speed dating format.
@carson_cagle99 will always know how to make us laugh. Thanks for this week. Some of us really need it.
