Beyond barriers, towards belonging.

On October 17, our community gathered at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art for UNSEEN - a documentary exploring the intersections of blindness, immigration, and mental health—followed by a conversation about lived experience, access, and belonging.

Thank you to director Set Hernandez, Pedro joining virtually, and Blind Fitness Coalition member Adelaide Ortega for sharing your perspectives and stories with us.
A heartfelt thank-you to State of Mind Cafe for making this screening possible through their generous funding, venue coordination, and outreach. Blind Fitness was grateful to help bring our community into the conversation and support the event’s promotion. It was a joy to work together to create an afternoon of connection and belonging.

Thank you to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art for hosting us, and to everyone who came to listen, ask questions, and connect. ❤️

Special thanks to Jeannine’s Bakery by the Beach for treating everyone to delicious scones!

Most of all, thank you to our blind and low vision participants and everyone who joined us. You are the heart of Blind Fitness!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our participants, volunteers, and instructors for showing up, putting in the work, and making another fantastic class possible!
❤️ Together, we’re building more than strength. We’re building connection and community.

Community support makes moments like these possible.
A heartfelt thank you to State of Mind Cafe for their generous support of our inaugural Play It By Ear Improv Series!
What began with our Intro to Improv workshop has grown into a four-class series where blind and low vision participants and sighted community members can come together to play, create, laugh, connect, and step outside their comfort zones.
We’re so grateful to have community partners who believe in creating more opportunities for connection, creativity, and inclusion.
Thank you, State of Mind Cafe, for being part of the journey. 💛
