I want to take a moment to thank my Columbine Massage LLC clients, not only for supporting my business but for being such an important part of my life. Without you, my business wouldn’t be what it is today, and my life certainly wouldn’t be as rewarding.

Massage therapy does more than allow me to help others physically. It stimulates my mind and feeds my spirit. I have the privilege of getting to know so many wonderful people, hearing your stories, learning from your experiences, and understanding the challenges you face.

Many of you have shared your concerns about our town with me over the years. Those conversations have helped inspire me to run for the Granby Board of Trustees.

I’ve been hesitant to mix my business with my campaign because I value the trust and professional relationships I’ve built with each of you. But I also know that some of my biggest supporters are the very people who walk through my doors.

To those who have already expressed their support or told me they’ve voted for me, thank you!

If you feel comfortable publicly supporting my candidacy, I would be incredibly grateful if you would share with your friends and family why you believe I would be a good trustee or why you’ve already voted for me.

I also completely respect your privacy. You never need to identify yourself as a client to support me, and I understand that some prefer to keep their therapeutic relationships private.

Regardless of the election’s outcome, I’ll continue advocating for our community, supporting local businesses, asking questions, and pushing for truly affordable housing and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

My commitment to Granby doesn’t depend on winning an election, just as my appreciation for you doesn’t depend on your vote.

Thank you for trusting me with your care, sharing pieces of your lives with me, and inspiring me to serve this community in another way.

Thank you so much!
Jo Pfaff
Candidate for
Granby Board of Trustees.

💜 Therapeutic Thursday – Movement Matters

Have you ever gotten out of bed in the morning and felt a sharp pain in your heel with those first few steps?

If so, you’re not alone.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, especially for people who spend long hours on their feet. That includes the things we enjoy doing like hiking, playing pickle ball, walking our dog, etc.

The pain is in your heel, but the problem isn’t always just your heel.

Your calves, Achilles tendon, ankles, hips, and even the way you move can all affect the stress placed on the plantar fascia. That’s one reason I don’t simply focus on where it hurts—I look at how your entire body is moving.

The plantar fascia is designed to support every step you take. When it becomes irritated or overloaded, it can make even walking across the room painful.

The good news is you can get not just relief but get rid of the pain.

I have a specific technique I use that directly targets the cause which in actuality is often an inflamed Achilles Tendon and the very small muscle behind the knee called the plantaris, as well as the plantaris tendon.

After applying my technique, I discuss with my client ways of getting rid of the inflammation.

Stretching, relieving irritation, simply being aware of what may be causing your plantar fasciitis and how to prevent it in the future all promote healing and prevention.

One of the things I love most about therapeutic massage is helping people understand why something hurts—not just trying to make it feel better for a day.

Because when you understand your body, you can care for it with confidence.

I always tell my clients that we have to be realistic. They can’t always come into me when a problem arises for a myriad of reasons so I want to arm my clients with the knowledge that they can then use for themselves when a common yet solvable issue arises.

💜 Your body is always talking to you. Let’s learn to listen.

Have you ever dealt with plantar fasciitis?

What made the biggest difference in your recovery? I’d love to hear your experience. Your story may help someone else who’s just beginning their journey. We are all here learning together.

Well, one thing is for sure I always have great intentions lol.

I failed at posting my therapeutic Thursday because these are the realities of a massage studio. I started out having a very slow day with only a 4 o’clock appointment on the books, that quickly changed when I got a call while I was still laying in bed, for two sisters, needing massage. One who hadn’t been able to sleep well in a couple of days the other, who couldn’t turn her neck.

So I got ready for work, headed in thinking I would finish my post and then, Shop chores took over and I completely spaced out my post. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️.

So staying on theme I’ll post it next Thursday.

In the meantime, what’s on my mind today is it would’ve been my grandma’s hundredth birthday. She was my first mentor. The one I saw serving others. The one I saw always working in her yard and home, the one with multiple side hustles as we call it today 😜the one active in clubs and organizations that served her town, her church, her like minded gal pals, and those in need.

She was my ultimate example of what I wanted to be like and not simply in the doing but in the in the reasons she did it all.

She would exclaim after a Sew ‘n’ Such club meeting how much she loved the women in the group and even though they had similarities they also had different stories and experiences and she loved getting to know each of them.
Or the statements of needing to make the yard look perfect for Homecoming weekend because everyone will be back in town and since she lived on Main Street and the parade route, she didn’t want to embarrass the Town by having an unkept yard😂
Or the countless times we brought food to someone who had had surgery or a baby, funerals, weddings, she made wedding cakes (the 5 tier fancy kind), community pot lucks and so on.

Just reminiscing about how amazing she was, my ever steady rock, with quick Witt (&temper) she was playful, creative, energetic, kindhearted, empathetic, hardworking, stubborn and loyal. Family came first and foremost. God, friends, community, and patriotism all came in close second.

These are my roots. The fibers of my being. My examples of how to be, the guide posts to which I hold my standards, morals, and values.

Happy 100 in Heaven grandma! I love you with all my heart.

Columbines were one of her favorites as were hummingbirds 💜💜💜💜

What makes my soul happy? Animals.

Pretty much watching any animal or learning about them.

These are goats and sheep from our friends at

https://www.goatsonthego.com/grandcounty

Or you know them as the Holley family of Sisu Farms.

These cuties are grooming a field of thistles and other weeds and tall grass. They are so happy eating away and roaming around their designated area. They’re helping the people who own the field naturally get rid of the weeds while fertilizing it.
I dabble and find astrology interesting so I always wonder if my pull to nature or animals has something to do with me being an earth sign (Capricorn). I know I’m rambling. I just wanted to share some things about me that don’t have to do with massage or business specifically but fills my soul and I believe in the mind body soul connection strongly.

Do, see, smell, listen to the things that set your soul at peace and on fire all at the same time. Live freely and fully.

Over the years, one thing has become very clear to me…

Most people don’t ignore pain because they want to. They ignore it because life is busy. We tell ourselves it’s “just getting older,” “I’ll deal with it later,” “it’s just menopause,” or “it’ll be fine, it’ll go away.”

Sometimes it does.

Many times, it doesn’t.

As a massage therapist, my passion has never simply been giving a relaxing massage. My passion is understanding why something hurts, continuing to learn new techniques, the reasons behind it and helping people move better so they can get back to doing the things they love.

If you’ve ever been on my table, you’ve probably noticed I talk a lot, sometimes.🤷‍♀️😊

That’s because I believe you deserve to understand what’s happening to your body, why I’m using a particular technique, and how it can help. Education has always been a big part of my practice, and I want to bring that same approach here.

So today I’m excited to introduce Therapeutic Thursday – Movement Matters, a Columbine Massage Wellness Series.

Each week I’ll share a different topic about how our bodies move, why pain develops, what I commonly see in my treatment room, and simple ways we can all take better care of ourselves. Some weeks we’ll talk about sciatica, shoulder pain, scar tissue, recovery after surgery, headaches, movement, posture, and so much more.

My hope is that these posts help you better understand your body and remind you that pain isn’t always something you simply have to live with.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your wellness at whatever stage. Whether you come in for a massage or simply follow along each week, I hope these conversations help you move better, feel better, and live fully.

See you next Thursday!
