The ADHD-to-Depression pipeline explained. šŸ‘‡
From a psychiatric perspective, secondary depression is a common byproduct of ADHD. The cycle typically looks like this: Dopamine deficiency causes severe task initiation struggles. Unfinished tasks lead to chronic overwhelm and stress. Chronic stress triggers feelings of failure and self-shame. Over time, this constant neurological friction causes a depressive crash. If your depression treatments haven't felt successful, it might be time to look at executive function. Visit our website to explore our care options.

What’s In a Safety Plan
A safety plan is a personalized, written guide for responding when distress increases. It is usually developed with a counselor or health care professional.
The plan should reflect the individual’s circumstances and preferences. It can be kept in an accessible place, such as near the phone, in a wallet or with other important health information. With the older adult’s permission, a family member or caregiver can learn the plan and help carry out the agreed-upon steps.
Southeast Colorado Hospital District’s Senior Life Solutions supports older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, or loneliness. Starting the conversation can be the first step toward feeling better.
