Hi, I'm Jen. ❤️

I'm a yoga teacher, somatic healing coach, and someone who spent a whole lot of years believing her body was a problem to solve.

I've spent years learning how to come home to my own body, and helping others find their way back to theirs.

And here's something I've come to believe along the way: we were never meant to do all of this healing alone.

We need spaces where we can be curious, uncomfortable, joyful, messy, and human. Where we can question what we've been taught, hear stories different from our own, and discover that belonging doesn't require us to become someone else.

That's why I created The Whole Body Experience.

Not because I have all the answers. I certainly don't. But because I've witnessed what happens when people feel safe enough to be themselves, when someone says me too, and when we begin to see one another beyond the bodies we're living in.

Tomorrow, I'm opening the doors to something I've poured so much of my heart into.

And I have one last thing I want you to know.

I'm not waiting for the perfect bodies, the healed bodies, or the people who know all the right things to say.

I'm waiting for you.

Come sit with me. ❤️

Every body has a story. And some of those stories are harder to tell than others. ❤️
Over the past few weeks, people in our community have trusted me with pieces of their body stories. Today, I'm sharing a few of their words.
Different bodies. Different experiences. And so many common threads.
What happens when we stop judging bodies long enough to really listen?
That's the conversation we're gathering for this Saturday.
Not everyone needs to share their story. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is our willingness to witness someone else's.

What if some of what you believe about bodies isn’t actually yours?

Maybe it’s more like a recipe handed down through generations. You didn’t write it. You’ve just been eating it so long it tastes like truth.

Who is healthy. Who is disciplined. Who is beautiful. Who is safe. Who belongs. Who needs fixing.

My newest essay is about diet culture, dehumanization, the stories we inherit about bodies—and what can happen when we finally read the recipe card.

You’re not guilty of what’s on the card.

But once you’ve read it, what you cook is yours.

Stare, Compare, Beware… Weight, What?

How much of what you believe about your body is actually yours?
What counts as healthy. Beautiful. Strong. Desirable. Disciplined. Appropriate. Worthy of care.
We didn’t come up with these ideas on our own. We learned them—from family, culture, healthcare, religion, beauty and wellness spaces, media, and from watching how different bodies were treated around us.
And once we notice that, we get to get curious about what we actually want to keep.
So let’s start the conversation now:
What’s one message about bodies you were handed that you’re questioning now?
Tell me below. 👇
And if this is the kind of conversation you want to have in a room with actual humans, come sit with us Saturday.

I've told you a lot about what we're going to do on October 10.
But I've been thinking about what I hope you take with you.
Maybe it's a story you can't stop thinking about.
A question you hadn't thought to ask.
Language for something you've felt but couldn't quite name.
A little more compassion for a body whose experience is different from yours.
A thread you suddenly recognize in your own story—and realize you don't have to keep carrying.
Maybe it's a new resource, a new connection, or simply the relief of realizing:
Oh. I'm not the only one.
I'm not promising that three hours in a room will heal your relationship with your body.
I am promising that we'll make room to get curious about it.
We'll listen. We'll learn. We'll pull at some threads. We'll make something together. We'll practice seeing our own bodies—and one another's—with a little more complexity.
And when the afternoon ends, Beyond the Room will be there so you can keep following whatever caught your attention.
You don't have to leave changed.
But I hope you leave with something worth carrying forward.

One week. ❤️
A week from today, we'll be sitting in the room together.
And after all the planning, changing, dreaming, recording, writing, inviting, collecting stories, pulling threads and asking what if?...
I can finally feel the room coming together.
There will be stories.
There will be music and poetry.
We'll make something together with our hands.
We'll pull at some of the threads we've inherited about bodies and see what might be ready to unravel.
We'll listen to experiences different from our own.
We'll laugh. We might cry. We'll eat something good, drink something delicious, and hopefully leave seeing our own bodies—and each other's—a little differently.
You don't need to know the right language.
You don't need to love your body.
You don't need to share your story.
You don't even need to agree with everything you hear.
Just bring your body and your curiosity.

If you've been watching me build this and thinking maybe...
This is me saying: come.
There's a chair for you.

What if your body isn't the thing that needs fixing?
There is so much noise telling us how to heal our relationship with our bodies.
Love your body. Accept your body. Move your body. Nourish your body. Fix your hormones. Heal your gut. Regulate your nervous system. Track this. Buy that. Try harder.
But sometimes I wonder if we're still making the body responsible for healing wounds it didn't create.
Because underneath body shame, there is often something else.
Fear.
Fear of being rejected. Judged. Sick. Unsafe. Too much. Not enough.
Grief.
For the years spent fighting ourselves. For a body that changed. For what happened to our bodies. For what we lost. For all the ways we learned to leave ourselves in order to belong.
And underneath so much of it:
Worth.
Who taught us that our appearance, health, productivity, ability, sexuality, age, size or self-control could determine how much care and belonging we deserve?
We didn't invent those measurements on our own.
We live inside systems that continually ask us to manage our bodies—to make them healthier, smaller, younger, more productive, more attractive, more acceptable.
And then hand us the shame when we can't, or don't want to, comply.
Maybe healing our relationship with our bodies isn't supposed to become another body-management project.
Maybe some of the healing is grieving.
Some is tending fear.
Some is remembering our worth.
Some is getting angry.
Some is recognizing which voices were never ours in the first place.
And maybe some of it isn't ours to heal individually at all.
Maybe some of it requires changing the conditions that keep teaching bodies they are the problem.
Your body may be carrying the story.
But that doesn't mean your body is what needs fixing.

This is part of what we're getting curious about October 10 at The Whole Body Experience.
Every body has a story. Let's get curious about who helped write it.

Okay, but what are we actually DOING on October 10?
I'm glad you asked. ❤️
From 2–5 PM, we're taking three hours to slow down and explore one big question together:
What does it mean to live in a body right now?
We'll begin by arriving together and settling into the room.
I'll share my State of the Body—some of what I've been learning about the messages, systems and stories shaping our relationships with our bodies right now.
We'll hear body stories and perspectives beyond our own.
We'll explore some of the common threads between us—and what happens when we start pulling at the threads of diet culture and inherited beliefs about bodies.
There will be an interactive community art experience, opportunities for reflection and connection, and room to simply witness if that's what you need.
We'll have music, poetry, mocktails, light nourishment, laughter and probably a few tears.
And we're not going to cram every conversation into three hours.
Your ticket also includes Beyond the Room, where the stories, speakers, resources and learning continue after we leave.
You don't need to prepare anything.
You don't need to share your story.
Just come as you are.
We'll take it from there.

Oops, I did it again.
I sat down to write a short thought and apparently had a big story to tell. 😂
I have a new Substack up today, and it’s a bit of a preview of something I’ve been working on for The Whole Body Experience—my State of the Body talk.
As we usher in October 1, I’ve been paying attention to policy changes around food, healthcare, education and access, and thinking less about the headlines themselves and more about where all of this actually lands: in bodies.
In the body doing grocery math at 2 a.m.
The body trying to understand a government form.
The body waiting for a prescription.
The body sitting in a classroom.
The body working and still needing help.
The body being told to manage its stress while living inside conditions that require vigilance.
And, well… this s**t is scarier than Halloween.
But this isn't a doom-and-gloom piece. It's about body image, food insecurity, nervous systems, policy, community care and the ways our lives touch each other whether we recognize it or not.
It's also about learning to look with soft eyes without looking away.
Yes, it's long. Grab your coffee. Read it in pieces. Skip around. Come back later. I won't know. 😂
Mostly, I hope you leave carrying one question:
Can your body matter to me, even when it isn't mine?
And because I didn't want to leave our nervous systems hanging out there after all that, there's a free downloadable loving-kindness meditation waiting for you at the end—a place to soften, see one another, and let your own body land.
Consider this a little preview of where we're going together on October 10.

When I say “body image,” what comes to mind first?
For a lot of us, it's weight. Size. Fat. The mirror. Whether we like what we see.
Of course that's part of the conversation.
But our experience of living in a body is so much bigger than whether we think it's attractive.
It's whether you're believed when you ask for healthcare.
Whether you have access to food that nourishes you.
It's hair and skin. Disability and accessibility. Aging. Gender. Sexuality. Illness. Pain. Pleasure.
It's whether clothing is made for your body.
Whether you feel safe moving through the world in it.
Whether your body has been welcomed, represented and cared for—or judged before you've said a word.
Our body stories are shaped not only by how we see our bodies, but by how our bodies have been seen and treated by the world around us.
So yes, on October 10 we're going to pull at some of the threads of diet culture and beauty standards.
And then we're going to make the conversation much, much bigger.
Because every body has a story.
And I'm interested in all the things that helped write it.
