AUTUMN EQUINOX | Tuesday September 22nd

Equinox has long been a sacred time when the veil between the physical and spiritual world is thin, and the energy grid of the planet comes into a higher vibration and harmony. All of Mother Earth responds to the Equinox which we can see as the changing of seasons.

Equinox is where we experience equal hours of night and day. It's a powerful day to honor our own earthly journey and to bring balance into our life.

In the northern hemisphere, this is the season of the year when Nature is beginning to shed, release, and let go; we can all feel this shift in energy coursing through our own lives.

We can take a cue from Nature - perhaps finding that some things we need to release - physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.

ENERGETIC INFLUENCE OF THIS AUTUMN EQUINOX

Knowing what we need to expand and what we need to contract can crystallize as the Equinox dawns. We can begin to see what is most important to us, what we want to spend our energy doing, and where we desire to put our intentions.

Reflect on what you are choosing to give your energy to and see if there is room to make adjustments. Our energy is our most precious resource so we must use it wisely. We may need to conserve our energy and find supportive ways to nurture and nourish ourselves so we don’t burn out.

If we are feeling off balance or want to merge with the energies of Mother Earth, spending intentional time outdoors in connection with nature can be incredibly harmonizing and healing.

The energies also encourage us to find balance between surrendering and maintaining control; paying attention to what we need to let go of, and what we need to take charge of.

AUTUMN EQUINOX & LIBRA SEASON

The September Equinox also brings the start of Libra Season, a timing that is strongly connected to finding our balance and the flow between giving and receiving in our lives.

Libra also represents the self within the other, which is essentially who we become in the many different relationships in our lives.

Do we like who we are when we are around certain people?

Are there certain relationships that bring out the best in us?

Are there certain relationships that challenge us to grow by triggering our traumas and subconscious behaviors?

Are there relationships that are just plain fun that remind us of the joy we have?

Are there relationships that feel one-sided or relationships that we have to maintain to stay professional or keep the peace?

RELATIONSHIP REFLECTION
Relationships are very often our greatest teachers. We need them to thrive, to grow, and to understand who we really are.

MY OWN THOUGHTS ON ASTROLOGICAL HAPPENINGS

While I'm fascinated by the movement of the stars and planets, seasons and cycles, and follow them closely, I don't hold all the happenings as 'predictive' as much as I hold them as 'influential'.

Just as the moon's movements influence the tides of the ocean, I believe the same subtle energies influence you and I. (after all, our body is 70%+ water)

Our 'modern' culture has steered us away from or completely skewed so much ancient wisdom and practices - some of which included the wisdom in and connection to the celestial bodies. Personally, I've been following my own intuitive guidance, finding my own way, with my connection to this ancient wisdom for years.

5.27.26 eNEWS | the seed planted 18 years ago & S.A.L.E.
It's hard to believe that we've already arrived at end-of-May 2026! Here in northen CA we've had unseasonably warm weather last week, and now unseasonably cool weather this week. As I'm typing this eNEWS it's actually begun to rain, and I'm listening to thunder storms in the disatance.
Through all the unseasonable-things, we've been BUSY over here at Mother Earth's Elements Central. We hope to have some exciting announcements for you very soon.
In the meantime...it's also the time of year when we pause and reflect for a bit - to honor the moment a seed-of-the-heart was planted many years ago that's now become MotherEarthsElements.com and everything associated with it.
For those of you who have been here for awhile, you know what this is about. For those of you who are new to our Mother Earth's Elements Collective, this is the time of year when I share the story of the seed that was planted exactly 18 years ago tomorrow. And we CELEBRATE IT with a S.A.L.E. This year it's 18% S.A.V.I.N.G.S. in honor of the seed that was planted 18 years ago.

FEATURE | it all began 18 years ago
.

Eighteen years ago - on Tuesday, May 28, 2008 - I was teaching an essential oils basics class in Denver, CO to students at College of International Esthetics.
Just the day before, I'd said goodby to my mom as I passed through the kitchen, and to my dad, who was resting comfortably on the couch in the living room, as I'd headed out the front door of my home to catch a plane to Denver on Monday afternoon. I'd flown to Denver to teach the class that Tuesday, then planned to fly back home to UT where I was living at the time, the following day.
Tuesday morning we took a brief late-morning break from class. As we went to break, I picked up my phone to check for any messages. I could see that there were several missed calls. I then listened to the voicemail that had come in an hour or so ago - a shaky-voiced message from our family friend and handyman, Jim, who asked me to phone him as soon as I got the message.
Jim and his wife were friends I'd known from Sacramento. and It just so happened that they'd relocated to Utah recently as well. Jim had become a daily fixture at my home over the period of a few months, doing renovations and upgrade work at the new-to-me home that I'd purchased in January of that year in Spanish Fork, UT.
After listening to Jim's VM that day, I immediately called him back, wondering if something had happened with my mom and dad, who were living with me at the time.
When I got through to him, he told me that my father had passed away peacefully at home earlier that morning - just an hour or two before I'd returned Jim's call. Thankfully, Jim was there with my mom.
As I took in the gravity of what he'd just told me, devastation set in.
It wasn’t supposed to go like this!
My dad was supposed to get better, not DIE!
My kids (with no dad in their lives) needed him!
I needed him! We had things to do and places to go!

THE BACKSTORY
The ‘backstory’ to all this is that for several months, my parents had been living with me in Spanish Fork, UT, in a suite I’d built onto my home for them. It was a setup that worked well for them, and that I was enjoying - grateful that I could support them, and help my dad with his healing.
My dad had been dealing with esophageal & stomach cancer for a few years. After months and months of grueling chemo and radiation treatments in 2005 and 2006, he had been declared clear of cancer. It was a relief for all of our family! He'd gotten his 'get out of jail' card.
At that point he and my mom chose to fulfill a dream they'd had for many years - going on a mission for their church. They prepared, did all the necessary interviews, then they were assigned to South Korea, which they loved.
Unfortunately, 18 months into their South Korean mission, cancer returned with a vengeance. They were immediately sent home to the US by their church authorities to seek treatment.
Their home in CA was under contract on a long-term lease agreement - they'd expected to be out of the country for at least two years - so when they had to return so unexpectedly and quickly, they moved in with me in UT, where they had each grown up and had siblings and extended family living in the area.
Once they arrived in UT, we began taking all the steps I knew of to reclaim dad's life from cancer.
At the time this was all transpiring with my parents, I was also in the midst of an exceptionally messy, deeply disturbing and very emotional business break-up; I didn’t know what my business-future held, how I would generate income nor exactly what direction to take with a business that I loved deeply.
I was devastated with how all THAT was unfolding. . . then came the phone call from Jim that took my devastation to an entirely new level.
LEAVING COLORADO
In Colorado that Tuesday after the short late-morning break, I went back into the class, explained what I'd just learned during break, and cut the class short, hurriedly gathered my few belongings. I was then rushed to DIA by a dear friend, to get home asap.
I took the first flight I could get, back home to SLC airport in UT. It felt like it all took forever. The flight to SLC, the hour long drive from SLC airport to my home in Spanish Fork. I just wanted to be home!
SLEEPLESS
As you might imagine, once I arrived home, spent some time with my Mom, all the while trying to process everything that had just transpired, once I finally turned in for the night, there was very little sleep to be had.
I tossed and turned that night, sooo many thoughts raced through my mind. My heart ached, missing my Dad who'd left way too soon. I wondered what I could have done differently to help him recover, rather than exit planet Earth. What could I have done more of, or differently?
I was worried about my mom. Worried about alllll the arrangements. Worried about my kids. Wondering how I was going to support myself and my family in the future since the whole business scenario I'd been working in for years - making a very healthy income - was now just one big mess that held little promise for any future.
Soooo much was up in the air. So manay thoughts were swirling through my mind and heart that night.
THE BIG QUESTION
At one brief point in the middle of the myriad of worried thoughts traipsing over and over through my mind that night, I attempted to take a proactive view about my business future, since everything I'd been doing seemed to be going down the drain in a rocket ship. I asked myself:
“If I could do ANYTHING in the world professionally, ANYTHING I really, really wanted to, what would it be?”
Hmmmm. . .
I'd been working with mineral supplementation for well over a decade at that point -13 years, to be exact - I knew what a profound difference minerals made for people, and how vital they are as the foundation for all real health. So minerals would have to be a part of any business equation I chose to work in.
I’d also just published the first edition of Nature’s Farmacy™, the first in a series of essential oils reference books I’ve written. I knew that essential oils, herbs and natural he@ling definitely had to be a part of any future business equation as well.
I was deeply steeped in my own thirst for more wisdom and knowledge from indigenous peoples and ancient cultures related to caring for, tending to and he@ling our bodies, minds & spirits, naturally. Any business venture I might choose in the future had to integrate each of those vital elements.
MY ANSWER
As I tossed and turned, considering all of those parts and pieces, the answer to the question I asked my Self that sleepless night came in . . .
“I would offer the very best in healing minerals, essential oils, clays, muds, salts & healing elements that Mother Earth provides. I would also offer the very best education about how to use and benefit from those elements.”
As that answer came in, I FELT IT DEEPLY.
I recognized the strong sense of Spirit that I've felt at other significant times and turning points in my life. This wasn’t a passing thought or idea, it was a call from my Soul. I felt it. I knew it. I just didn’t know what to do with it.
As I laid in the dark that night, the next question came in . . . 'ok, if I were going to do THAT, I asked my Self, what I could & should I call such an enterprise and mission. . .
Mother Earth’s Elements™ came in.
As that name came in, I got tingles all over my body. Literally. My heart just about leapt out of my chest . . . my own visceral responses to the Divine Inspiration I was experiencing, as I tuned in to that name and identity.
I had no way of knowing what it all meant. I just felt the intensity of the Inspiration. And I knew I was going to have to do something - create some kind of business - to support myself and my family. . .
Then another thought came in.
Is the domain name available?
I had to know if that domain name was available. If it was something I would work with in the future, I'd need the domain name.
So I got up out of my tossing and turning, walked through the house to my computer, logged into my godaddy.com account, and searched to see if the domain name Mother Earth’s Elements was available.
MotherEarthsElements.com
AVAILABLE.
It was available!
Amazing! Must be meant to be!
I bought it then and there.
That was 3:21am May 29th, 2008.
I still have the digital receipt in my godaddy.com account.

FAST FORWARD
Fast forward to early autumn 2018,
It had been a minute or two since that sleepless night ten years previous.
That messy, devastating business situation all those years ago DID dissolve. It wasn't pretty.
There’d been a heap of living, lesson-learning and growing over the years since then.
As with all things ‘Divine Timing’, the time for building and bringing MotherEarthsElements.com into the world finally made itself known mid 2018.
IT'S TIME
There was LOTS to do . . .develop a logo, decide on products to offer, figure out how I could make that happen financially, write product descriptions, write website text, find images that I would want to use on a website, build a website, figure out how to pay for it all, and soooo much more. So much to do!
Six months later, in January 2019, the launch of MotherEarthsElements.com was officially announced to the world. Not that too many people noticed at that point, but we were officially 'out there'.
That was a BIG accomplishment.
And amazingly enough, it was done with no debt, no investors, no financing. . . just pure faith, determination, gracious business associates, and we were doing this thing! Bootstrapping it all the way!

MY PLAN | GOD'S PLAN
Since then, things have definitely not gone as was originally planned . . . who of us actually forsaw a world-wide plandemic, and two years of off-on-off-on?
Definitely not me.
NOW MORE THAN EVER
As we fast-forward to the world as we know it today, the need for the exceptional products offered at Mother Earth’s Elements has never been greater. The need for the education and info has never been greater. I feel it every.single.day.

SOIL vs DIRT | there is a difference
.

"Every time I hear someone refer to soil as dirt, I can’t come to terms with it. Particularly when I am in the United States, I hear a lot of people calling earth as dirt.
Maybe it is just another word, but in our mind, “dirt” means trash – something that you don't want. I have heard it a thousand times, but something in me still cringes every time I hear this.
What you call as “my body” is just a piece of the planet – it is an accumulation of the food that you have eaten. You are just a small outcrop of this earth, nothing more nothing less.
Right now you are an outcrop who prances around. After sometime you will become a small mound. So if you make the raw material into “dirt”, the product is bound to be dirt.
In India, for example in Tamil Nadu, we traditionally called soil as “thai mannu” – Mother Earth.
In this culture, we see everything as ingredients of life. This is why we bow down to food, water, air, the sky, the sun, the moon, a stone, a tree – anything! We do not see anything as a commodity, as something that you can use and throw.
You cannot use and throw anything in this existence. It passes through you, it is you for a certain period of time, after that it becomes something else. You are only a relay runner, you are not the runner on the planet.
The air that you are breathing right now, the very body that you carry right now, it has been millions of bodies in the past. It has been an insect, an animal, a snake, a cow, a monkey, a human being – I am not talking about the evolutionary process – I am talking about the soil going through every form of life.
So this is not a commodity. This is older than you, wiser than you, far more intelligent and capable than you, and a far bigger process than you are as a person. You are a petty little character in this whole game that is happening.
If we want to live well, being in reverence towards the very earth that you walk upon, towards the air that you breathe, the water that you drink, the food that you eat, the people that you come in touch with and everything else that you use, including your body and mind, will lead us to a different possibility as to how we can live."

It's THAT time of year! Personally, my favorite season . . . springtime!
Everything feels bright, fresh, new, newly budding, hatching and emerging. The trees are so gorgeous with fresh leaves sprouting; springtime flowers are bright, alive and seem to pop up everywhere!

After the slumber of winter, we're officially moving into the gentle thaw of early spring, and all it brings with it! It's a great time to create a celebration for yourself, your family and maybe even including friends.
ALL THE SPRING THINGS
All the signals or spring's arrival are showing up abundantly - flower buds, daffodils, wild yellow mustard fields, leaves popping out on tree branches, baby lambs, bunnies, birdsongs and fresh produce at local farmers' markets!
Spring is not only a time when we look forward to more sunshine and warmer weather - we naturally turn our thoughts and attention to new beginnings, fertility, abundance and rebirth - it's historically been a time of celebration.
TRADITIONS, TRADITIONS!
Traditionally, North American springtime celebrations have included planting seeds, cleaning homes, decorating eggs, lighting bonfires, and preparing seasonal feasts to welcome the returning sun and growth in every form.
CELEBRATIONS 'ROUND THE WORLD
Every culture has their own unique springtime celebrations; following are a few that I think are interesting.

Holi | Northern India. A colorful festival honoring Krishna who lovingly asked Rhada to paint him any color she desired. Festivities begin the night before equnox with bonfires, dancing and culminating in throwing colored paint powder and water balloons on participants, in part to honor the many colors of spring. The biggest Holi celebration is actually in Spanish Fork, UT, where I used to live. Over 70,000 people attend anually.
Nowruz | Persian New Year Begins on the equinox, involving deep cleaning, visiting family, and celebrating for two weeks to mark the start of the new year.
Ostara | A modern pagan festival honoring the balance of day and night, often celebrated with egg decorating, representing fertility, and setting intentions for the upcoming season.
Drowning of Merzanna| Poland, a Slavic tradition involving the burning or drowning of straw dolls representing the winter goddess to banish winter.
Busojaras | Hungary. A festive event with masked characters and bonfires designed to scare away winter.
Spring Equinox | Teothiuacan, Mexico: People gather at the pyramid dressed in white to celebrate the new season and welcome in the coming warmth of the sun.
Songkran Water Festival | Thailand Celebrated as New Years day with street wide water "fights" or splashing.
Sham Al-Naseem | Egypt. A traditional spring festival dating back to ancient times, celebrated with family picnics and eating traditional foods like dried fish.

Some of the celebrations around the world are very different than what we might consider as a celebration. But they've been tradition for ages.
A FEW IDEAS FOR YOUR CELEBRATION
Following are a few ideas; you might want to consider implementing one or two for a springtime celebration in your home:
Create an altar: Make a space dedicated to our new intentions for the season. Adorn your space with bright colors, plants, and herbs that promote growth and healing. Place it in the sunshine to warm your hearts and minds after the dark months of winter.
Plant seeds or garden: Embrace the ancient tradition of sowing seeds as a symbolic gesture of planting intentions for the season ahead. Choose seeds that resonate with your aspirations and dreams, whether it be for personal growth, abundance, or creativity. As you sow each seed into the fertile earth, visualise your intentions taking root and blossoming into fruition, aligning with the natural cycles of growth and renewal.Sing songs to your plants while you give them to the earth. Plant food and flowers to brighten up the land!
Build a miniature herb garden: As a symbol of your own growth - each time you snip an herb and use it in your food prep, you'll be reminded of your own growth.
Wake at sunrise: Rise early from bed to glimpse the sun peaking over the horizon. Awaken your body and mind to the new day with the sun.
Have a bonfire: All over the world, cultures integrate fire into their celebrations. Go outside and have a fire (safely of course!). This is a great time to gather loved ones, set new intentions for the season and release them to the flames.
Create a spring wreath: Use seasonal florals and greenery to create a seasonal wreath for your front door, to welcome the season as well as visitors.
Spring cleaning: This is a time of purification and renewal. Refresh and renew your home, throw open your windows and let the warming air flow from room to room. Clean the spaces you frequent the most, and rid your home of dying plants and stale foods. Wash your windows and mirrors to flood your home with the growing light of the sun. Burn or discard anything stagnant or decaying.
Create a special spring bath experience: Cleanse your physical self - soak in a salt bath dressed in spring flowers or fresh foliage. Honour your body with nourishing foods throughout the day.
Create new goals or projects: Equinox is a time of balance and beginnings. Start a project with the balance, clear head and an open plane of possibilities.
Go outside: Take a hike, or exploring new parts of your city you haven't seen before. Looks for signs of life sprouting from the fertile earth. Historically, spring is a great time to travel and explore. Roads once closed from snow will start to open with a brand new world of growth awaiting you. Even if the natural world is far from your doorstep, find a new tree in your city to sit under, or a fun part of town you haven't explored.
Family feast: whether you quite literally create a family feast, or you create a moveable 'feast' of sorts with a picnic outdoors using seasonal foods such as spring greens, eggs, fresh herbs, honey or hot cross buns.
Enjoy some seasonal media: Read and/or watch The Secret Garden, a sweet story about a sour young girl who ‘comes back to life’ herself after discovering a secret garden; or All Creatures Great and Small or Anne with an E.

There are SO many things that we can do to celebrate life, love and this beautiful earth we live on. We can thrive and enjoy our corner of the world, far from the strife and turmoil that seems to be so prolific these days.
As you celebrate this beautiful timing, you may have some of your own ideas and traditions that are much more inspiring that the ideas I've shared. If so, I'd LOVE to hear about them.
Personally, I think it's the simple things we do year after year to honor the seasons and cycles of life, that makes our lives that much sweeter. It also creates such beautiful memories over the years.
