Pilates with Alexis Comprehensively Trained Pilates Instructor. Teaching group and private lessons. Helping your move your body safely to build strength, flexibility and stability.

Welcome! My name is Alexis and my journey with learning and practicing Charkra Healing began more than twelve years ago with my martial arts training. My education and usage of essential oils started over twenty years ago in Portland, Oregon. I have always turned to holistic healing for my wellness through massage, acupuncture, reiki, tea, essential oils, etc. It only made sense to share and help guide others on their journey to learning and listening to their own bodies. COMING SOON! I offer small group and individual crystal sound bath meditation sessions. The sessions help to relax your mind, remove negative energy, and bring the body back to a positive state. One-on-one sessions are specific to you with guidance to help balance your system.

Let’s practice rotation of the spine seated on the short box.

It’s important to build a strong foundation with your practice, and when I teach I build in layers.

I am always clear with people that is what I do and to notice which layer you feel the best and are able to move in alignment at.

It is not going to be the last layer right out the gate. That’s why we practice. 🙂

Upper body movements in a low kneeling position on the tower.

This can also be achieved at the springboard and Cadillac!

I created this page to help others truly see pilates in action.

It’s not sped up.

It’s not about the outfit.

It’s not about youth.

It’s about slow, controlled aligned movements connected to a deep breath pattern. 🙂

It’s about keeping the body flexible and strong as we age.

My page has turned into more than sharing all of that, it has become a journal for me. Seeing how my body has changed over the years thru pilates practice.

This would not have been available in body a few years ago.

Now as I am about to turn 51 I am moving safer, have more flexibility and core strength than ever before. 🙂

Pilates can look deceptively simple from the outside. One person is lying on a mat doing slow, controlled movements. Another is on a machine with springs, straps, and a sliding carriage. Both are doing Pilates, yet the experience can feel completely different. That is where the confusion starts. Is....

Whew!

Let’s roll up into a teaser on the Cadillac with our legs in the trapeze loop!

Starting with the legs elevated adds an extra challenge. They will want to float up but it’s important to try to keep them stable and gently press into the strap.

Whew!

Let’s level up our bridges on the Cadillac!

These are great for a client who is looking for a new challenge and does not have any issues with their hamstrings.

As always move slow and with control.

Jumping!

Now that we warmed up in the previous reel let’s get into a jumping flow.

We are still controlling the movements, do not things come out of alignment, keep your form but jump!

Warm up!

Always warm the body up before getting into the class flow.

When we jump, we are still seeking control and precision of the movement.

We just do this via a jumpboard.

I have seen lots of posts about how pilates doesn’t help build bone density but that is unfortunately untrue.

Jumping is one of the best ways to build bone density. 👏

It’s low impact, we can change the springs to change the feel, and raises the heart rate for your cardiovascular health.

Stay tuned for more jumping soon 👏
