Lord, our hearts hurt for those whose lives have been torn apart by this hurricane.

We pray especially for the families grieving someone they love.

Hold them close as they face news they never wanted to hear.

Be with those who are injured, those waiting to hear from loved ones, and those who have lost their homes.

Protect the rescue crews and everyone working to reach people still in danger. Help them get to those who need them.

In the days ahead, help us remember these communities and respond to their needs.

When people are exhausted and don’t know what to do next, send someone who can help them take that next step.

Lord, let them feel Your love through the care of those around them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
