A busy week of connection, collaboration, and community care for the Upstate Community Paramedicine (CP) Coalition! 🚑💙
First, we welcomed community paramedics from Horry County to learn about our buprenorphine bridge program. It was a great opportunity to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and strengthen partnerships across South Carolina.
Then, on Tuesday, the team joined forces with the Medication Assistance Pharmacy for a community testing event—bringing services and resources into the community.
Thank you to our visiting colleagues, pharmacy partners, and coalition members for making this week possible. We’re proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to serving our communities!

From the past, through our present, and into our future, one thing has never changed: FAMILY!! Over the past 60 years, faces and uniforms have changed, the colors of the ambulances have brightened, but the heart of Prisma Health Ambulance Service remains the same. We are more than what you see on the outside… we are a family built on compassion, strengthened by tradition, and united by a purpose bigger than ourselves.
To those who have helped pave the way, those who are carrying the torch today, and to those who will lead us into the next 60 years, thank you!

Happy 60th Birthday Prisma Health Ambulance Service!

Today was a beautiful day on the course at the Gran Fondo Hincapie in Greenville. With a route stretching nearly 100 miles, this is one of the largest events Prisma Health supports each year, requiring multiple ambulances and Quick Response Vehicles to provide medical coverage along the way. It’s an honor to be the team ensuring a safe event for all the riders tackling this incredible challenge. 🚴‍♂️🚑☀️

Due to impending weather conditions, we regret to inform you that our 60th Birthday Celebration scheduled for tomorrow has been CANCELLED. The safety of our community, families, and team members is always our top priority.

While we are disappointed that we cannot gather in person tomorrow, our hearts remain filled with gratitude. In October 1966, PHAS Oconee began its very first year of service to this community. From the beginning, our mission has never wavered: to serve, protect, and care for our neighbors through every moment, critical or quiet.

Through six decades of growth and change, we are deeply thankful for the trust and support you have shown us over the years. Thank you for being the heart of the community we serve. Happy 60th Birthday PHAS—here’s to six decades of history and many more years of serving you!

This Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Week, we celebrate our incredible Community Paramedics who provide compassionate care for substance use disorder and co-occurring infectious diseases to people who use drugs in Upstate South Carolina.

Seven days a week, these dedicated professionals help bridge people who use drugs to their office-based appointments to receive medication for opioid use disorder. Their continued connections with these patients help them stay in treatment, they facilitate transportation and ensure availability in rehabilitation and sober living, and they provide testing and treatment for infectious diseases such as hepatitis C virus (HCV).

The impact of these individuals is remarkable: In just five years, Community Paramedics working across five counties have cured 100 people of HCV, potentially preventing an estimated 300 additional infections in our communities.

Their work goes beyond medicine. They are combatting stigma and changing attitudes, too. In the past year alone, our Community Paramedics have helped educate more than 250 public safety professionals across Upstate South Carolina, working to reduce stigma and reinforce a simple message: substance use disorder is a chronic disease, and people who use drugs deserve compassionate, evidence-based care.

To our Community Paramedics tackling the opioid and stimulant crises in our community: Thank you for meeting people where they are, believing in where they can go, and helping them get there.

This MIH Week 2026, we’re celebrating our team’s commitment to sharing knowledge at local, regional, and national venues! 🎤🚑

Beyond the care we provide in our community, our team members are taking the stage to share experiences, lessons learned, and practical approaches to Mobile Integrated Healthcare. These presentations create opportunities to exchange ideas, connect with colleagues, and contribute to conversations about the future of patient-centered care.

From our readmissions work to ETS and Treat-in-Place, sharing our work opens the door to collaboration and learning from others helps us bring fresh perspectives back to the patients we serve.

Thank you to our team members who step up to teach, present, and represent our program. Your dedication to both patient care and professional education deserves recognition this week and every week!

MIH Week Day 3

During MIH Week 2026, we’re recognizing the impact of our ETS and Treat-in-Place work.

When appropriate, our Mobile Integrated Healthcare team helps patients receive timely, compassionate care in the comfort of their own homes or Skilled Nursing Facilities. By assessing patients, providing treatment within our scope, and connecting them to the right resource, we can help ensure each patient receives care at the right time and in the right setting.

Treat-in-Place supports patients by avoiding unnecessary emergency department visits while still addressing their immediate needs. It also helps preserve emergency resources for those who need them most and strengthens the connection between EMS, healthcare providers, and the community.

We are proud of the dedicated clinicians, EMS professionals and community partners who make this work possible and who continue to find innovative ways to deliver patient-centered care beyond the hospital walls.
