Myth or fact: OCD and anxiety are basically the same thing. It's OCD Awareness Week, and this is one of the biggest mix-ups we hear from patients and families. Anxiety and OCD can feel similar on the surface, both come with a lot of worry and a drive to make the uncomfortable feeling stop. But they're not the same. Anxiety usually centers on worry about real things in your life: money, health, relationships. OCD is different. It's specific, intrusive thoughts that get stuck on repeat, paired with actions or mental rituals you feel like you can't skip, even when part of you knows it doesn't fully make sense. A lot of people spend years thinking they 'just have anxiety' before OCD is ever brought up, especially when the rituals are silent, happening entirely in your head instead of something visible like checking a lock.

Did this myth surprise you? Save this for anyone who's felt like their anxiety treatment isn't quite hitting the mark.

If something's felt stuck on repeat for you, that's worth a real conversation, not another guess. (903) 231-3151.

Myth or fact: OCD is just being really neat and organized. It's OCD Awareness Week, and this is one of the myths that actually keeps people from getting diagnosed. OCD isn't a personality quirk or a preference for tidiness. It's intrusive, distressing thoughts paired with compulsions the person feels they can't skip, even when they know the thoughts don't make sense. It can look like checking, counting, mental rituals, or fears that have nothing to do with cleanliness at all. If your brain won't stop looping on something and it's affecting your daily life, that's worth talking about.

Was this myth or fact for you before today? Be honest, we won't judge.

Curious if what you're experiencing might be more than 'just anxiety'? That's exactly the kind of question our team is built for. (903) 231-3151.

It's World Mental Health Day. This year's theme is about listening to real, lived experience, and we couldn't agree more.

So much of psychiatric care has historically been about talking at people instead of with them. That's not how we practice. Whole-person care means your history, your goals, and your own read on what's working (or not) shape your treatment plan every step of the way.

Mental health is a human right, not a last resort.

Is it a bad week, or is it depression? Here's how we actually tell the difference. Today is National Depression Screening Day, and one of the most common things new patients tell us is 'I didn't think it was bad enough to ask for help.' Depression doesn't always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. Sometimes it's losing interest in things you used to love, or feeling irritable more than sad. Screening isn't a diagnosis, it's just a starting point for an honest conversation. Swipe through for a few signs we talk about with patients every week.

Save this for someone who's been brushing off how they've been feeling lately.

If any of this sounds familiar, our team is here. Call (903) 231-3151.

"Coordinated care" can sound like a buzzword until you've experienced the alternative: your therapist doesn't know what your prescriber changed, your P*P doesn't know you started a new psychiatric medication, and you're the one stuck relaying information between providers.

We make a point of staying in the loop with the other people involved in your care, therapists, P*Ps, specialists, when it's relevant and with your permission. You shouldn't have to be the messenger for your own treatment plan.

It's a small thing that makes a real difference in how care actually feels day to day.

Questions about how we coordinate with your other providers? (903) 231-3151.
