We had the pleasure of joining HNRS 2002: Survey of Health Professions for an evening exploring the world of physical therapy! Students got hands-on experience with strength and range of motion assessments, balance testing, assistive device selection, and even put their clinical reasoning skills to the test with a case study. 🧠🩺

Students also had the opportunity to explore our lab spaces and see demonstrations in the Human Movement Analysis Lab (HMAL), getting a glimpse into the technology and resources used in PT education and practice.

Such a special opportunity to share our passion for PT during National PT Month! 🧡 A huge thank you to our PT students, past and present, and our wonderful volunteers who made this fun and educational evening possible! 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

Did you know? 🧠 Global PT Day of Service is October 10th! Our physical therapy program joined together earlier this week to celebrate. We bagged lunches for the Greenville Community Shelter and made cards for the inpatient rehab residents at the hospital. We are grateful for the chance to give back to our wonderful community! 💜💛

We love seeing our students put their skills into practice beyond the classroom! Shoutout to our students who assisted with dance screenings a few weeks ago! SPTs assessed mobility, strength, and dance-specific movements to identify potential injury risk and help keep dancers healthy and performing at their best. They even had a little fun trying out some of the movements themselves! Swipe to see our stars 🌟

This weekend, SPTs traveled to High Point University to represent at the 2026 APTA NC Annual Conference! We are so proud of our students who presented their research and were able to showcase all of their hard work. Such a wonderful opportunity to learn and connect with others across our profession! Way to go, Pirates! 💜💛

Last month our 1st year students got the opportunity to practice transfers with safety and good body mechanics during their Intro to Patient Care class. Thank you to ECU Health for allowing our DPT students to learn more about the care of bariatric patients.

On September 12th, we had our Annual PT Gala where all 3 cohorts join together for a fun night of getting dressed up and raising money for our very own PT Club! Thank you to all of our students and guests who showed up and showed out! 💛💜🏴‍☠️

A couple weeks ago our 2nd year students got the opportunity to learn how to properly don and doff shrinkers and protectors for patients with lower extremity amputations. A huge thank you to Shane Coltrain and O&P East for providing our students with this opportunity in during their Prosthetics course! 💛💜🏴‍☠️

📣📣Calling all PT Students, Faculty, Alumni, and Friends to support the APTA Flash Action Strategy for the Physical Therapist Workforce and Patient Access Act: to increase the number of physical therapists in rural and medically underserved areas and add PTs to the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. On Friday September 11th, we had the opportunity to celebrate our first-year students at their Pinning Ceremony. Each student was presented with our official ECU Pirate PT pin and a PT Toolkit which were handed out by our Pirate Alum. Thank you to all of our donors who helped make these toolkits possible! A big thank you to our guest speakers, Audrey Curtis, PT and Wiley Hoover, PT! Congratulations ECU DPT 2029!!💜💛🏴‍☠️

The purpose of PT Club is to represent the physical therapy profession on the East Carolina University campus and to promote the physical therapy profession at the local, statewide, and national level through academic, social and civic service. Each cohort has an Executive Board that oversees all activities of the club. Membership in PT Club assists with paying for costs such as boards prep books and our graduation symposium. 💜💛
