🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 12: PROTEIN FIRST! πŸ’ͺπŸ₯š

Let's talk BREAKFAST!

How many of us start our day with toast, cereal, a muffin, or maybe just a cup of coffee?

One simple change that can make a big difference is prioritizing PROTEIN at breakfast!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Build your breakfast around a quality protein source!

πŸ₯š Eggs with avocado and berries

πŸ₯£ Plain Greek yogurt with nuts and fruit

πŸ₯‘ Cottage cheese with fresh fruit

πŸ₯© Leftover chicken, beef, or turkey with vegetables

πŸ₯€ A protein smoothie when you're short on time

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Protein isn't just for athletes or people trying to build muscle!

πŸ’ͺ Muscle Maintenance: Provides amino acids needed to maintain and repair muscle tissue, especially important as we age.

πŸ’ͺ Blood Sugar: Pairing protein with carbohydrates can help moderate the blood sugar response to a meal.

πŸ’ͺ Satiety: Protein helps you feel fuller longer and may reduce the urge to snack throughout the morning.

πŸ’ͺ Recovery: Your body uses protein to repair tissues and support numerous essential functions.

And remember our Day 6 discussion? Muscle is your greatest currency against aging! Getting adequate protein is one important part of protecting that investment!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Aim for 20–30 grams of protein at breakfast, adjusting for your individual needs.

Not sure what that looks like?

πŸ₯š 3 large eggs = approximately 18 grams

πŸ₯£ 1 cup plain Greek yogurt = approximately 20–25 grams

πŸ₯› 1 cup cottage cheese = approximately 25 grams

You don't need an elaborate breakfast. Just be intentional about including protein!

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

What's your favorite protein-packed breakfast?

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS
Day 11: EAT THE RAINBOW! 🌈πŸ₯¦

We've all heard that we need to eat more fruits and vegetables. But did you know that the COLORS of your food can tell you something about the nutrients they contain?

Different colored fruits and vegetables contain different vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and beneficial plant compounds.

And your body benefits from VARIETY!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Challenge yourself to eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables throughout the day!

πŸ₯¬ GREEN: Spinach, broccoli, asparagus, and leafy greens provide nutrients that support bone health and normal cellular function.

πŸ… RED: Tomatoes, red peppers, and strawberries contain compounds such as lycopene and anthocyanins that help protect cells from oxidative stress.

πŸ₯• ORANGE/YELLOW: Carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes contain carotenoids that support eye health and immune function.

🫐 BLUE/PURPLE: Blueberries, blackberries, and purple cabbage contain anthocyanins associated with cardiovascular and cognitive health.

πŸ§„ WHITE: Garlic, onions, and cauliflower provide fiber and beneficial plant compounds that support overall health.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Eating a variety of colorful produce helps provide:

βœ… Different vitamins and minerals

βœ… Antioxidants that help protect our cells

βœ… Fiber to support digestion and gut health

βœ… Plant compounds associated with reduced chronic disease risk

And here's the good news... fresh, frozen, and even canned vegetables can all count! You don't have to spend a fortune on organic produce to improve your nutrition.

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Eat at least THREE different colors of fruits or vegetables today!

Bonus points if you can get FIVE!

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Your plate should be as colorful as your life! 🌈

How many different colors have you eaten today?

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 10: GET OUTSIDE! β˜€οΈπŸŒΏ

Sometimes the simplest things we can do for our health are right outside our front door!

We spend so much of our time indoors, under artificial lighting, staring at screens, and moving from one climate-controlled environment to another.

But our bodies were designed to respond to the natural rhythms of day and night!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Make it a priority to get outside every single day!

β˜€οΈ Get outside in the morning, ideally within an hour of waking up.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Take a 10–15 minute walk outdoors.

🌳 Spend time in nature, even if it's just sitting outside with your morning coffee.

πŸ“± Leave your phone inside and enjoy a few minutes without distractions!

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Natural daylight helps regulate your body's internal clock, known as your circadian rhythm.

Getting outside regularly can:

β˜€οΈ Support Better Sleep: Morning light helps signal to your brain when it's time to be awake, supporting a healthier sleep-wake cycle.

β˜€οΈ Improve Mood: Time outdoors and exposure to daylight can positively influence mood and emotional well-being.

β˜€οΈ Encourage Movement: Being outside often naturally leads to more physical activity.

β˜€οΈ Reduce Stress: Spending time in natural environments may help lower perceived stress and promote relaxation.

And here's something interesting... even on a cloudy day, outdoor light is typically much brighter than indoor lighting!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Spend at least 15 minutes outside today!

Bonus points if you get outside in the morning and leave your phone behind!

You don't have to go hiking or plan a big outdoor adventure. Just step outside, breathe some fresh air, and enjoy the natural light.

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health is simply STEP OUTSIDE! 🌿

How do you like to spend time outdoors?

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 9: WHAT'S IN YOUR BODY CARE PRODUCTS? 🧴

We've talked about reading ingredient labels on our FOOD, but have you ever stopped to read the ingredients in the products you put ON your body?

Think about how many products you use every single day... shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, deodorant, makeup, and more!

While our skin acts as a protective barrier, some ingredients can be absorbed through it, and others may cause irritation or sensitivity.

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Start paying attention to the ingredients in your personal care products!

🧴 Read the ingredient lists on products you use daily.

🌸 Consider choosing fragrance-free products, especially if you have sensitive skin.

🌿 Look for products with ingredients that serve a clear purpose and avoid unnecessary extras.

πŸ’š You don't have to throw everything away! Start by replacing ONE product when it runs out.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

What we put on our bodies deserves attention, too!

Some personal care products contain fragrances, preservatives, and other ingredients that may irritate sensitive skin or trigger allergic reactions.

Choosing products thoughtfully can help:

βœ… Reduce exposure to ingredients that cause irritation or sensitivity.

βœ… Minimize unnecessary fragrance exposure.

βœ… Support healthy skin by protecting its natural barrier.

βœ… Help you become a more informed consumer.

Remember, "natural" doesn't automatically mean safe, and a long ingredient list doesn't necessarily mean a product is harmful. The goal is to make informed choices!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Pick ONE personal care product you use every day.

πŸ”Ž Turn it over and read the ingredient list.

πŸ”Ž Look up any ingredients you're unfamiliar with.

πŸ”Ž Consider whether there's a simpler, fragrance-free alternative you'd like to try when it's time to replace it.

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Small changes in what we put ON our bodies can be just as intentional as the choices we make about what goes IN them!

What's one personal care product you've already made a healthier swap for?

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 8: AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE! ❀️

We spend so much time focusing on what's wrong, what needs to get done, or what we wish was different. But how often do we stop and appreciate what's going RIGHT?

Here's something simple that can have a meaningful impact on your overall well-being... GRATITUDE!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Start a daily gratitude practice!

✏️ Write down THREE things you're grateful for each day.

❀️ They don't have to be big things! A warm cup of coffee, a beautiful sunrise, a conversation with a friend, or simply waking up to another day.

πŸ““ Keep a small notebook by your bed or take a few minutes each morning to reflect.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Practicing gratitude helps shift our attention away from constant stress and negativity toward the positive things in our lives.

Research suggests that regularly practicing gratitude may:

❀️ Improve emotional well-being and mood.

❀️ Help reduce perceived stress.

❀️ Support better sleep quality.

❀️ Increase feelings of happiness and life satisfaction.

❀️ Strengthen relationships and social connections.

And here's what I love about gratitude... It doesn't change your circumstances, but it can change how you experience them!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Before you go to bed tonight, write down THREE things you're grateful for.

Take it one step further and tell someone why you're grateful for them!

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Gratitude turns what we have into enough. ❀️

What's ONE thing you're grateful for today? Share it below! πŸ‘‡

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 7: THE POWER OF HUMAN CONNECTION! ❀️

When we think about improving our health, we often focus on eating better, exercising, and getting enough sleep. But there's another piece of the wellness puzzle that we sometimes overlook... HUMAN CONNECTION!

We live in a world where we're more digitally connected than ever, yet many people feel increasingly disconnected from one another.

And here's the thing... Human connection isn't just good for the soul. It's good for your HEALTH!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Make an intentional effort to connect with someone today!

❀️ Call a friend or family member just to check in.

❀️ Give someone a hug (a real one, not just an emoji!).

❀️ Have a meaningful conversation without your phone in your hand.

❀️ Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while.

❀️ Spend quality time with someone you care about.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Research continues to show that strong social connections are associated with better physical and mental health.

Meaningful human connection can:

❀️ Help reduce stress and feelings of loneliness.

❀️ Support emotional well-being and resilience.

❀️ Improve our sense of belonging and purpose.

❀️ Support cardiovascular health.

❀️ Be associated with a longer, healthier life.

And don't underestimate the power of physical touch! A welcome hug or a hand on someone's shoulder can provide comfort, reassurance, and a sense of connection.

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Reach out to ONE person today. Make a phone call, give someone a hug, or spend 10 minutes having a genuine, uninterrupted conversation.

No scrolling. No distractions. Just CONNECTION.

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do has nothing to do with food or exercise. Sometimes it's simply being there for someoneβ€”or allowing someone to be there for you. ❀️

Who are you going to connect with today?

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 6: MUSCLE IS YOUR GREATEST CURRENCY AGAINST AGING! πŸ’ͺ

When we talk about healthy aging, we often focus on nutrition, supplements, and cardiovascular exercise. But there's something we absolutely cannot overlook... MUSCLE!

Muscle is your greatest currency against aging! And the earlier you start investing in it, the better!

Here's the reality: As we age, we naturally begin to lose muscle mass and strength. And unless we're intentional about maintaining it, that loss can impact nearly every aspect of our health.

πŸ’ͺ Here's something I feel strongly about: You need to lift weights. And yes, eventually, you need to lift HEAVY weights!

Now, before that scares you away, hear me out!

Heavy is relative. What's heavy for one person may be easy for another. The goal isn't to walk into a gym tomorrow and start lifting 100 pounds.

START SMALL. BUILD CONFIDENCE. GET STRONGER. LIFT HEAVIER.

Your muscles need to be challenged to grow stronger. As your strength improves, the resistance needs to increase, too!

🌿 WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Muscle is so much more than looking strong!

πŸ’ͺ Metabolic Health: Muscle helps your body use and store glucose, supporting healthy blood sugar regulation.

πŸ’ͺ Bone Health: Resistance training helps maintain bone strength as we age.

πŸ’ͺ Independence: Strength allows us to continue doing the things we love, from playing with grandkids to carrying groceries and getting up off the floor.

πŸ’ͺ Longevity: Greater muscle strength is associated with better long-term health and a lower risk of premature death.

Walking is fantastic for your health, but it doesn't replace the benefits of progressive resistance training.

And here's the good news... you don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment to get started!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Take 10 minutes today and work on building strength!

βœ”οΈ 10 squats
βœ”οΈ 10 wall or countertop push-ups
βœ”οΈ 10 glute bridges
βœ”οΈ 10 standing calf raises

Repeat as time and ability allow!

As these exercises become easier, gradually increase the challenge by adding resistance or progressing the movement.

You don't have to love lifting weights, but if you want to maintain your strength, ind

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 5: STOP THE SCROLL! πŸ“±πŸ˜΄

We've talked about movement, hydration, and making better food choices. But improving your health isn't just about what you eat or how much you exercise!

Let's talk about something most of us are guilty of... scrolling on our phones before bed!

You know how it goes. You pick up your phone to check one thing, and before you know it, 30 minutes (or more!) have disappeared!

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

πŸ“± Put your phone away at least ONE HOUR before bedtime!

πŸ“– Replace scrolling with reading a book, stretching, journaling, or simply relaxing.

πŸ›οΈ Better yet, charge your phone outside your bedroom!

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Your body operates on an internal clock called your circadian rhythm, which helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle.

Exposure to bright light in the evening, including blue light from screens, can delay melatonin release and make it harder to fall asleep.

But it's not just the light! Social media, news, and endless scrolling can keep your brain stimulated when it should be winding down.

Getting adequate, quality sleep supports:

βœ… Hormone regulation

βœ… Immune function

βœ… Memory and concentration

βœ… Recovery and tissue repair

βœ… Healthy blood sugar regulation

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

First, check your phone's daily average screen time. You might be surprised by how much time you actually spend on your phone!

πŸ“± iPhone: Settings β†’ Screen Time

πŸ“± Android: Settings β†’ Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls

Then, challenge yourself to put your phone away ONE HOUR before bed tonight!

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

Now, be honest... were you surprised by your daily screen time? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 4: FLIP IT OVER! πŸ”Ž

Yesterday we talked about eating more REAL food. Today, let's take that one step further!

When you're grocery shopping, do you read the ingredient list? And no, I'm not talking about the Nutrition Facts label!

One of the simplest ways to make better food choices is to turn the package over and look at what's actually IN your food.

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Here are my 3 simple rules when reading ingredient labels:

1️⃣ Sugar in the first 3 ingredients? PUT IT BACK!

Watch for sugar in its many formsβ€”corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, cane sugar, and more. Ingredients are listed in order by weight, so those first few ingredients matter!

2️⃣ Can't pronounce an ingredient? PUT IT BACK!

This is my reminder to take a closer look at unfamiliar ingredients and learn what they are.

3️⃣ Couldn't go to the store and buy the individual ingredients? PUT IT BACK!

I prefer foods made with simple, recognizable ingredients that I could use in my own kitchen.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Reading ingredient lists helps you become more aware of added sugars, food additives, and how processed your food really is.

Not every unfamiliar ingredient is harmful, and not every packaged food is unhealthy. But being intentional about what you purchase is a great place to start!

πŸ’š TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

Let's put those ingredient-reading skills to the test!

Next time you're at the grocery store, compare the ingredient lists on A&E Cottage Cheese and Daisy Cottage Cheese.

Don't look at the calories, protein, or fat grams. Look at the actual INGREDIENTS!

πŸ”Ž Which one has the simpler ingredient list?

πŸ”Ž Which ingredients do you recognize?

πŸ”Ž Which one would YOU put in your cart?

Comment below and tell me which one you'd buyβ€”and WHY! πŸ‘‡

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

🌿 21 DAYS OF SIMPLE WELLNESS Day 3: Eat Real Food! 🍎πŸ₯‘

Today's tip is all about getting back to basics!

We live in a world of convenience foods, and while they're quick and easy, many ultra-processed foods are loaded with added sugars, excess sodium, and refined ingredients while offering little fiber or nutritional value.

🌿 TODAY'S WELLNESS TIP:

Swap ONE highly processed food for a whole or minimally processed alternative!

πŸ₯œ Instead of chips β†’ Try a handful of nuts.

🍎 Instead of a packaged sweet snack β†’ Try an apple with natural peanut butter.

πŸ₯š Instead of sugary cereal β†’ Try eggs with fresh fruit or avocado.

πŸ₯€ Instead of soda β†’ Try water with fresh lemon.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Whole and minimally processed foods often provide more fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that support your body's natural functions.

Eating more whole foods can help:

βœ… Support steadier blood sugar

βœ… Improve digestive health

βœ… Keep you feeling satisfied longer

βœ… Support long-term metabolic health

And remember, eating healthier doesn't have to mean buying expensive specialty foods. Frozen vegetables, eggs, beans, nuts, and seasonal produce are all great options!

✨ Better health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Small changes, done consistently, can make a big difference!

πŸ’š Today's challenge: Replace just ONE ultra-processed food with a whole-food option.

What's one simple food swap you could make today?
