It’s OCD Awareness Week! An opportunity to challenge some of the misconceptions surrounding OCD and better understand what it actually means to live with it.

OCD isn’t simply being particular, organised, clean, or wanting things “just right.”

At its core, OCD involves a cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges can create distress or anxiety (obsessions), leading someone to feel compelled to perform certain behaviours or mental rituals to reduce that distress (compulsions).

While compulsions may bring temporary relief, the cycle can quickly begin again.

OCD is a real mental health condition, not a personality quirk, preference, or joke.

This OCD Awareness Week, let’s keep learning, challenging stereotypes, and talking about OCD with greater understanding and compassion 🩵

Today is World Mental Health Day 🩵

Let’s keep making conversations about mental health feel normal, not something we only talk about when someone has reached breaking point.

Checking in with yourself, talking to someone you trust, and seeking professional support when you need it can all be part of taking care of your mental health ✨

Just as importantly, mental health care should be accessible, approachable, and available before someone reaches crisis point.

You don’t have to wait until things become unbearable to ask for support. Starting the conversation can be a powerful first step 🦋

When you understand your emotions, needs, triggers, and patterns, you can begin to recognise what you need rather than simply pushing through.

Sometimes, caring for yourself means listening to what your mind and body have been trying to tell you.

Therapy can be a space to explore those patterns, build self-understanding, and develop healthier ways of caring for yourself 🩵

Sometimes, what someone needs most isn’t advice, it’s to feel heard 🩵

Comments like “just think positively,” “everyone feels like that,” or “but you seem fine” may be said with good intentions, but they can unintentionally minimise what someone is experiencing.

Mental illness doesn’t always look the way we expect it to, and comparing someone’s pain, questioning its validity, or suggesting they should simply “try harder” doesn’t make it go away.

Instead...
✨ We can listen without judgment.
✨ We can ask how someone is really doing.
✨ We can offer support without trying to fix everything.
✨ We can remind people that their struggles are valid and worthy of care.

The more we understand, the more compassion we can create 🦋

October is ADHD Awareness Month.

This is your reminder that ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone. It can present differently across individuals, and the way it shows up can also change throughout different stages of life.

For some, ADHD may mean difficulty focusing or staying organised. For others, it can look like challenges with time management, motivation, emotional regulation, remembering everyday tasks, or maintaining routines.

These struggles aren’t simply a matter of “trying harder.”

Executive functioning involves the skills we use to plan, prioritise, start and complete tasks, manage time, regulate emotions, and navigate everyday life. When these areas are affected by ADHD, someone can genuinely want to do something and still find it incredibly difficult to get started or follow through.

Understanding ADHD with more compassion and less judgment can make a meaningful difference. 🩵

Sometimes, the things we learned to do to get through difficult seasons were exactly what we needed at the time, but as life changes, those same coping patterns may no longer serve us in the same way.

You’re allowed to grow, change, and find new ways of feeling safe, setting boundaries, expressing yourself, and moving through life. 🦋

Outgrowing an old survival strategy doesn’t mean it was wrong. It means you’re making space for something that fits who you are now.

Healing can be about learning that you don’t always have to survive in the same way you once did. 🩵

October is Depression Awareness Month, so here's your reminder that everyone deserves support no matter what their depression looks like. Get to know the different tells a little better... 🩵

Depression can look different for everyone. Sometimes it’s feeling persistently low or hopeless. Sometimes it’s losing interest in things you once enjoyed, struggling to get through the day, or simply feeling like you’re not quite yourself.

Sometimes, you can look completely fine on the outside while struggling deeply on the inside.

Depression isn’t something you have to “just snap out of,” and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

This month, let’s make space for honest conversations, greater understanding, and the reminder that help is available.

Here at Wike, we are always here for you. 🦋

Sleep is more impactful on us than you think, no matter how young, fit or healthy you may be...

8–10 hours each night helps improve focus, boost mood, and support mental health, and shouldn't be underestimated. It's one of the best ways we can care for ourselves.

So as the new season slows us down, prioritize rest: because better sleep leads to brighter, more balanced days. 🦋
