People think trusting your intuition means immediately following a gut feeling. But what if you’re dysregulated? What if you’re responding from an old wound, fear of abandonment, or a pattern you’ve learned to associate with love?
Sometimes it’s your nervous system trying to protect you. Sometimes you’re picking up on a pattern you’ve been trying to rationalize away. Learning to discern the difference takes practice.
And let’s talk about the hard part…
You can KNOW a connection isn’t nourishing you and STILL struggle to walk away.
You can see the good in someone, understand their trauma, and believe they have good intentions while acknowledging that the way they consistently show up is depleting you.
You don’t have to make someone a bad person to recognize that a dynamic isn’t good for you.
Trusting your intuition means learning to slow down, connect with your body, recognize your emotions, understand your patterns, and discern what’s happening instead of automatically reacting.
It’s learning to honor what you know, even when accepting it means grieving something you wanted.
You can love someone, miss them, and still choose yourself.
You don’t have to wait until you hate someone to walk away from a dynamic that’s draining you.
