Meal plans are great. In fact, I run an entire program based on following a healthy meal plan, and when life cooperates, I fully stand behind them.
But I also teach my clients that flexibility is important. Because sometimes you don’t get the meal prep done. Sometimes you don’t make it to the grocery store.
And sometimes…life. just. happens.
This past weekend, I didn’t get my meal prep done, so instead of throwing my healthy eating out the window, I just simplified things.
I took a HUGE chicken breast (about a pound), seasoned it, threw it in the oven, and made that my main source of protein throughout the day.
Then I added a few really simple things...cucumber and homemade dip, a milk, chia and flax drink, a few extras, and even used a fiber supplement.
I set everything out in the morning so I had a plan, and then as my busy day moved along, I didn’t have to think about what I was making or what I was going to eat next.
And at the end of the day, I had checked off the things that mattered most to me:
Protein.
Fiber.
Mostly whole foods.
And enough food to feel satisfied.
Nothing about this was fancy. There were no pretty meals. But it was simple, nutrient-dense food that worked for my day.
And that’s the point. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be perfect, or even pretty, to be effective.
That’s a big part of why I coach creating healthy habits that actually last.
