Maybe you started lifting because you wanted to look better.
But somewhere in your 40s, 50s and beyond, the reason changes.
Muscle becomes about so much more than appearance.
It helps you:
• maintain strength and independence
• support bone density and reduce osteoporosis risk
• lower your risk of falls and fractures
• protect your metabolism as you age
• get up off the floor, carry your groceries, travel, play with your grandkids, and keep doing the things you love
• stay out of the “frail” category for as long as possible
One of the biggest threats to healthy aging is the gradual loss of muscle that happens when we don’t actively work to maintain it.
And you do NOT need to live in the gym.
A great place to start is resistance training about 3 days per week for 30 minutes. Dumbbells, resistance bands, machines, or bodyweight exercises all count. The goal is simply to progressively challenge your muscles over time.
Think of building muscle as an investment in your future independence.
You’re not training just for the body you want today.
You’re training for the 70-, 80-, and 90-year-old version of you who still wants to live life on her own terms. 🤍
Not sure where to start with your health, hormones, metabolism, or longevity goals? We’d love to help you build a plan.
