At Visionary Psychiatry, our providers make time in their schedules to connect with pharmaceutical representatives and stay current on treatment options, clinical information, and developments in psychiatric care. 🧠💙

Today, our team had the opportunity to meet with Gina and Nolan from Janssen Pharmaceuticals for an educational discussion and breakfast.

The discussion included updates on a psychiatric treatment option that works by helping regulate key brain signaling systems, including serotonin and dopamine, which play important roles in mood, thinking, and behavior. This type of treatment may help manage symptoms associated with certain mood and psychiatric conditions.

We value these opportunities to ask questions, exchange clinical insights, and continue learning so our providers can remain informed about evolving treatment options for the patients we serve.

Thank you to Debra Menacho and Gina Howarth from AbbVie for spending time with our team and joining us for a wonderful lunch meeting.

Today’s discussion focused on an evolving psychiatric treatment option used in the management of schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder—including depressive, manic, and mixed episodes—and, in adults, as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder when an antidepressant alone may not be enough.

One of the most valuable parts of these meetings is learning more about how newer treatment approaches may fit into different stages of a patient’s mental health journey—and the questions our providers can consider when evaluating individualized treatment options.

We always appreciate opportunities to connect with our healthcare partners, exchange insights, and stay informed about developments in psychiatric care.

Busy and productive day at Visionary Psychiatry! 🧠💙

It was a full day of seeing patients, working with the team, and fitting in educational rep meetings in between — definitely one of those nonstop clinic days!

Over lunch, we met with Chelsea Fulton from Alfasigma for a discussion about the role of active folate in supporting neurotransmitter production and how certain biochemical pathways may be relevant when caring for patients with depression.

We also spent time with Gina Schmid from Janssen, who met with our providers to discuss a psychiatric treatment approach that works across important brain-signaling pathways involving serotonin and dopamine, with applications in certain mood and psychotic disorders.

It’s fascinating how much can happen behind the scenes in the brain — from folate metabolism to neurotransmitter signaling — and how understanding those mechanisms can help providers stay informed about evolving approaches to psychiatric care.

These conversations give our team the opportunity to ask questions, explore the science behind different treatment approaches, and stay current on resources available to support individualized patient care.

Busy clinic, productive meetings, good food, great conversations, and an amazing team! 😊
