I’m so grateful she saw me and made space for a conversation about how I got to where I am. Her mission and the ripples she’s creating among women feel so deeply aligned with the heart of Girl Dinner and the work I care so much about.

That’s right. Our annual Girl Dinner fundraiser is almost here.

This year, we’re talking about the mamas.

But don’t talk yourself out of being in the room if you’re not a mother.

Because if you love a mother, have a mother, will someday support a mother, or simply want to better understand what the women in your life are navigating—we all have a reason to be part of this conversation.

Motherhood can look wildly different from one woman to the next. So we’re bringing four different perspectives to the table to help us better understand the physical, emotional, and deeply personal realities of the fourth trimester.

Come listen. Come learn. Come ask better questions.

And come break bread with us while we support an organization working to make sure new mothers don’t have to navigate this transition alone.

Just because we’re looking for real connection doesn’t mean networking is excluded. In fact, I think it means there’s more space for it than we may realize.

Networking has gotten a reputation for being corporate, transactional, and a little… single-serving. But what if instead of taking it completely out of the equation, we started asking better questions?

What if you asked the woman you just met why she does what she does?

Maybe she’s building a business because she wants to empower women. Maybe that’s part of your purpose, too. Maybe there’s a shared value sitting underneath two very different businesses.

That’s the piece traditional networking often misses. The conversation stops at what do you do? instead of continuing into why does it matter to you?

When we understand someone’s purpose, we have a whole lot more room to connect, learn, collaborate, and grow.

Our businesses are woven into our everyday lives. They’re part of who we are, what we care about, and sometimes who we’re becoming.

So no, business isn’t the main point of Girl Dinner. But we’re also not going to pretend it doesn’t belong at the table.

There is a lot of buzz about the real REAL of being an entrepreneur.

Here is my humble two cents for those of you who are interested. . .

Entrepreneurship can be isolating. You make big moves, leave the job, invest in yourself, go without to promote your dream, and you fail.

It’s inevitable.

There is an unavoidable learning curve at every level. And as most of us know, failure is growth in disguise. The fumbles start to feel more like speed bumps than mountains when you set yourself up for them.

So what does that mean? What does that actually look like?

It means finding support.

You hire the mentor or the coach. You find people doing what you’re doing, or something similar. You build relationships with people who understand the weight of what you’re carrying.

And most importantly, hear me out here: You get vulnerable.

Your ability to get humble and honest with yourself will directly affect the trajectory of your growth—and the growth of your business.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. But you do have to be willing to look at what isn’t working, ask for help, and make the adjustments that move you forward.

That’s where the real transformation.

Nuance doesn't exsist to divide us. It shows up to invite deeper, more honest conversations about who we are and how we show up.

If someone’s authenticity makes you uncomfortable, instead of immediately labeling or judging them, ask yourself:

What could be on the other side of my discomfort?

Maybe there’s something there worth exploring.

Stay curious.

You might show up for the food.
Or you might come because you’re craving a night out.

And while you are there something happens.

You start talking.
You laugh.
You get a little vulnerable.
You realize the woman sitting across from you has been through some of the same things you have.

And somewhere between the first bite and the last goodbye…

you came for dinner and left with new friends.

That’s the magic of Girl Dinner.

No networking pitch. No pretending to have it all together. Just good food, real conversations, and women making space for women. 💗
