The happiest people are often the ones who are struggling the most 💔
I should know… I was one of them! 💗
The smiles, the laughs, the cheerfulness, all of these can carefully mask the harrowing, devastating sorrow that a person can be feeling that may, unfortunately, ultimately consume them. Kate Spade, Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, Chester Bennington, Anne Burrell, Avicii, and COUNTLESS others who let their sorrow win yet no one—no one—knew. They all had incredible careers, countless success, and yet… Somehow it wasn’t enough.
On this World 🌎 Mental Health Day, we recognize and honor all those who are struggling with a huge spectrum of hidden, often silent disorders. Whether it be ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety, depression, etc, we see you, we hear you, and, of course, we believe in you. Every battle you wage against your personal demons does not go unnoticed, and we are here to validate your experience, your emotions, and your existence. You are as worthy of life as the next and even when you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom, there is ALWAYS a way up. Sometimes a word of encouragement, a text, a hug or a hand hold is all someone needs to flip them from crisis mode to recovery.
I’m grateful to my parents who called me when I was staring at my feet dangling over a bridge over ten years ago. Had it not been for them, I certainly would not be here today. That sight still haunts me but it also encourages me and tells me that even when the lights are dimmest, there is still a single ray guiding your way out. ❤️
Reach out to your friends and your family especially those who seem totally fine. Your words could serve as that single ray of light. 🫶🏻
