BCM Developmental Pediatrics Education Support Hub Welcome to the hub for Developmental Pediatrics community outreach and education.

This page was created as a place where caregivers and professionals can connect with an interdisciplinary team of experts in developmental and behavioral pediatrics through a variety of individual and group based educational offerings. Our goal is to provide targeted support and guidance as children grow and develop, and to support community providers in managing the care of their patients.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Exciting News for Texas Families, Self-Advocates, and Professionals!

We are excited to announce that the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism and the Baylor Transition Medicine Clinic have received funding to launch the Texas Lifespan LEND Program!

Led by Dr. Ostermaier and Jennifer Cervantes, LCSW, this groundbreaking program is one of only a handful of programs nationwide dedicated to preparing future leaders to improve services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families across the lifespan.

Through partnerships with incredible organizations, professionals, self-advocates, and family leaders across Texas, trainees will gain hands-on experience in:

โœ… Disability leadership
โœ… Interdisciplinary collaboration
โœ… Family-centered care
โœ… Advocacy and systems change
โœ… Community engagement
โœ… Education, employment, recreation, and community inclusion
โœ… Self-advocacy and family support

We are especially proud that this program brings together healthcare professionals, educators, therapists, social workers, self-advocates, family members, and other disability leaders to learn from one another and work toward more inclusive communities for all.

๐ŸŽ“ Upcoming Trainee Cohorts (Applications open November 1, 2026)

๐Ÿ“… January 8, 2027 โ€“ July 30, 2027
๐Ÿ“… September 10, 2027 โ€“ May 28, 2028

Participants will complete 300 hours of interdisciplinary leadership training through a combination of virtual and in-person experiences.

We welcome applications from self-advocates, family members, graduate students, professionals, and others committed to improving outcomes for individuals with disabilities and their families.

๐Ÿ“ง Interested in learning more? Contact Jennifer Cervantes, LCSW at [email protected].

Together, we are building the next generation of leaders who will help create a more inclusive, accessible, and supportive Texas for people with disabilities and their families. ๐Ÿ’™

Help Us Improve Your Experience!!

At the Meyer Center, we are committed to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where every child and family feels comfortable, supported, and empowered to succeed. For many children, particularly those with developmental differences, sensory sensitivities, or communication challenges, the environment around them can have a significant impact on their ability to participate, learn, and engage in care. Thoughtfully designed sensory-friendly spaces can help reduce stress and anxiety, support regulation, improve accessibility, and create a more positive experience for both children and caregivers.

As part of our ongoing commitment to meeting the diverse needs of the families we serve, we are exploring opportunities to enhance our clinic environment through sensory-inclusive design and accommodations and would love your feedback!

We would appreciate you taking a couple of moments to share your thoughts with us by taking the short survey below:
