Medical Assisting students at Fortis College (Dothan) practiced proper cleaning techniques and dressing applications in wound care using training models, building familiarity with just one of the many clinical skills that can be part of the job. 🏥

According to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute, blood cultures are collected first, followed by light blue, serum, green, lavender/pink and gray tubes. 🩸

During training, Fortis Medical Assisting students learn about blood collection procedures, including how these different collection tubes are used and why the order of draw matters.

Meet Keviyon McKinney, a Fortis Houston North HVAC graduate who didn’t just pass his certification and call it a day.

Just one month later, he landed a position with a commercial company — one of those opportunities he had been working toward - and he’s loving every minute of it. 🔧❄️

His story is bigger than what you see in this video. This is just the beginning.

Because sometimes the most inspiring part of a success story is remembering where you started, what you had to overcome, and that you kept going anyway.
